Duke Houston Sweet 16 Preview best Bets

ncaab

Let's kickoff the weekend on the right note with some college hoops!

Here is the stank that I brewed up for today's massive slate. It is full platter type of day, but we are keeping it light.

Here we go!

Queens vs Duke Prediction: Duke -28

Arizona vs Duke Prediction & Picks: Will Filipowski Fuel the Blue Devils at Cameron? cover

Matchup Information – College Basketball

  • Venue & Location: Cameron Indoor Stadium – Durham, NC
  • Date: Saturday, December 30th, 2023
  • Tip Off: 2:00pm Eastern

The Stank:

Could this be a look-ahead spot for the Dukies? Sure, but I see this as a get-right spot before conference play.

We know Duke, they are good, very good. Top 50 in almost every category offensively and defensively. It makes you think, why is this number only in the high 20s?

Queens is god awful. They are a team only a mother could love. In road/neutral matchups this season the Royals are in the 300's in offensive/defensive adjusted efficiency and effective field goal offense/defense.

Duke has covered this number in four games this season while having the 66th toughest schedule according to Haslametrics.

Concerns: Queens is coming off a 30-point loss at Clemson a week ago. This could be a great bounce-back spot for them to cover if Duke is more focused on incoming conference play.

However, as a team wouldn't you want to go into conference play feeling good and fresh after man-handling some scrubs? I would.

The Pick: Duke -28 Get These Odds @ GTbets

Campbell vs. St. Francis PA Prediction: Under 131.5

Matchup Information – College Basketball

  • Venue & Location: Loretto, Pennsylvania
  • Date: Saturday, December 30th, 2023
  • Tip Off: 4:00pm Eastern

The Stank:

No need to tighten up your sneakers for this one, both teams love to keep it slow and simple. The Camels are one of the slowest teams in the country 354th according to Bart Torvik, while the Red Flashes are a little quicker (271st).

There is nothing sexy offensively about either team, as they are both bottom ten in offensive-adjusted efficiency (Campbell is 3rd worst in road/neutral games). Both teams are averaging around 60 points per game.

You can laugh, it's okay.

What grabs me is Campell's defense. In road/neutral games the Humps are fantastic defensively, 53rd in defensive adjusted efficiency.

Holding opponents to 65.2 points per game, the Humps' most impressive defensive performance came on November 15, at Virginia Tech and although they lost, they held the Hokies to 60 points. Tech is a top 75 offense according to Bart Torvik.

Concerns: St. Francis is terrible, having one of the worst defenses in the country. However, Campbell's offense in road/neutral matchups are 3rd worst.

It will 100% be an ugly game full of disgusting plays. Hence why I will be living in the land down under in this one.

The Pick: Under 130 Get These Odds @ GTbets

Additional Information

If you are looking for advanced analytic websites for college basketball the ones I have mentioned above are my favorite two. They are free and very informative. Ken Pom is another great resource, but sadly you have to pay.

Remember, these are mostly used as a crutch. Do not let these be the end all be all to making wagers. They are not always right with their predictions. Use your plums, trust your gut, and remember you cannot win them all. Trust the process. If you have any questions my socials are below I am always free to discuss anything college hoops. Especially, if it is over a game that will have under 23 people in attendance.
