If Wisconsin wants to continue an impressive March Madness record, a win tonight over #5 Purdue (9:00 pm ET, FS1) will go a long way towards locking up a place in the field of 68.

Out of the last 23 editions of the NCAA Tournament, the Badgers have been a part of the field 22 times, missing out only in 2018.

But entering tonight's game against the Boilermakers (24-5, 13-5 Big Ten), the Badgers (16-12, 8-10 Big Ten) are positioned rather precariously on the bubble.

Will Points Be at a Premium for Purdue and Wisconsin?

Whether or not Wisconsin comes away with an important win, a great deal of scoring is unlikely at the Kohl Center tonight.

There hasn't been much of that at all during Big Ten play for either the Badgers or their opponents.

Of their nine home games in conference play, the only one to go over is Wisconsin's 69-65 loss to Michigan State on January 10. In contrast, seven of their nine road games in conference play have gone over.

The trends on Purdue's side are encouraging as well. Of their true road games in conference play–not counting their win over Penn State in Philadelphia–only three have gone over: at Ohio State, at Michigan, and at Indiana. In their home games, the over is 5-3-1.

When it comes to the outcome of this matchup, Wisconsin might be catching Purdue at just the right time.

The Boilermakers are 2-4 SU and ATS in their last six games, and they have lost and failed to cover in each of their last three road games (against Indiana, Northwestern, and Maryland).

Also, the Badgers have had quite the pattern over their last eight games, alternating wins and losses. They are coming off of an overtime loss at Michigan on Sunday, so if the pattern continues, they will get the win tonight, much to the disappointment of other bubble teams out there.
