More Big Ten basketball is on our screens tonight as this top 15 matchup takes place at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the *self-proclaimed* basketball capital of the world (Yeah… okay Huskers). Regardless, the No. 7 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers take on the No. 13 Purdue Boilermakers tonight on FS1. After finally coming down the Earth after their 20-0 start, the best in program history, the Huskers lost two straight, but both were to national title contenders. However things won't come easy tonight against the veteran led Boilermakers. Our CBB experts dug deep into this game to find their favorite picks in this Big Ten battle.

#13 Purdue Boilermakers vs. #7 Nebraska Cornhuskers NCAA Basketball Insights

Pryce Sandfort leads the Huskers with 17.1 points per game, and Nebraska will need him to score tonight
Many, including myself, thought Matt Painter's team would be nearly invincible this season with the returning trio of Fletcher Loyer, Trey Kaufman-Renn and of course, Braden Smith. However after just an 8-0 start, they were dominated by Iowa State in their own gym. I chose to look the other way, as the Cyclones are a very good team. Then after winning another nine straight to get to 17-1, they dropped three in a row: to UCLA on the road, to Illinois at home, and to Indiana in Bloomington. They are coming off a home scare against the Oregon Ducks as well, and now face a top 10 team on the road, something they have not done yet this year.
But I still think all the pressure lies on Nebraska. You are at home, you are favored, and you're having the best season in your school's history. This team cannot afford to drop anymore, although this is likely their toughest remaining game until the Big Ten tournament. Going to Iowa won't be a cake walk, but the Huskers will get to host the Hawkeyes to end the season if they do lose at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Regardless, Fred Hoiberg needs to have his team ready to roll tonight against this top 15 team.

#13 Purdue vs. #7 Nebraska NCAA Basketball Picks and Predictions

Braden Smith and the Boilermakers can't afford another Big Ten loss this season
Purdue vs. Nebraska Prediction: Purdue Wins Outright, Under 148.5
Best Bet: Purdue +2 (-112) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
We know Nebraska isn't unbeatable at home. Illinois took them down fairly easily, and they went toe to toe with Michigan State when the Spartans came to town. There is nothing for either team to look ahead to, even with Purdue going to Iowa on Saturday, because they can't afford another conference loss.
I trust the leadership and experience of the Boilermakers to carry them to a tough road win tonight. Yes, the moneyline could be a play, but on the road I'm not going to pass up a couple points. This has all the makings of an all time matchup. We have the experienced players on the Boilermakers who have been here before, and the up and coming new kids on the block who are having the best season in program history. But the bigger they are, the harder they fall, and I see Nebraska dropping this one.
Purdue is one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, ranking top 32 offensively and top 10 defensively. They struggle to get to the free throw line, but they make up for by shooting nearly 40% from deep in 10 games away from Mackey Arena. Nebraska slows things down at home (which is the way Purdue likes to play) and don't do great on the boards. The Huskers are north of 300 at offensive rebounding and are outside the top 110 on the defensive side of things. Not to mention this team is bottom 15 in getting to the stripe, even on their home floor. Painter's team should dominate the glass, much like they did on the road in Tuscaloosa.
Points will be at a premium tonight, and I trust the Purdue offense to put the ball in the hoop just enough to cover this spread and possibly win outright.
