The Missouri Tigers are basically playing a home game on Friday as they take on the Miami Hurricanes in St. Louis in the Round of 64. I have to give Miami props for finishing third in a much weaker ACC than we expected, but are they prepared for the Big Dance? Outside of conference play, the Hurricanes played the 30th easiest schedule in all of college hoops, but Missouri's schedule outside the SEC was a bit easier. Now the two might be in for a wake up call as they go head to head on Friday night.

#10 Missouri Tigers vs. #7 Miami (FL) Hurricanes NCAA Basketball Insights

As I mentioned, neither team played a tough non conference schedule. But both were still in the top 80 overall in strength of schedule, with the Tigers breaking the top 50. All year long, Missouri has been skating by with wins, but I can't let you forget, they beat the No. 1 seeded Florida Gators this season in Columbia. However, they ended the season on a three game losing streak, but neither the Tigers or Hurricanes won a game in their conference tournament.

And one will lose on Friday and watch their season come to an end. Neither team is extremely fast or slow, and both score around 80ish points per contest. Will the Hurricanes be able to pull this off as short favorites in what might feel like a road environment?

I was able to snag the best number possible on Sunday, getting the Tigers for (+130). But anything with a plus sign is a good play in my eyes. And I'll be the first to admit, I am not a Mizzou guy. I hate them. I bleed red and blue (Rock Chalk). And I don't have very many advanced analytics to back this up, which is how I usually like to look at things. This is more of a gut play.

Miami does not play well on the perimeter. They don't take very many threes and can't make their free throws. I'll give them their flowers, they are one of the best rebounding teams in the nation on both sides of the ball, but Mizzou is a team that crashes the offense glass as good as anyone. They have the bodies down low to hang with the size of the Hurricanes and combat their inside scoring.

Add in the fact that this is just a short two hour drive for anyone in Columbia (plenty of Mizzou faithful in St. Louis), and I don't see Miami pulling this off. Take the points if you want, but I have the Tigers knocking off the Hurricanes on Friday.
