These teams are trending in opposite directions, with Minnesota coming off a grueling double-overtime loss to the Buckeyes and Wisconsin shooting at an unsustainably high rate over their last two games. With the Gophers struggling offensively and Wisconsin due for regression, this game has all the makings of a low-scoring battle.

Minnesota vs Wisconsin Bet
One of the best games on tonight's Friday college basketball slate features the Wisconsin Badgers hosting the Minnesota Golden Gophers. These teams are coming off very different results: the Gophers endured a double-overtime loss to the Buckeyes on Monday, while the Badgers secured a 12-point road win over the Scarlet Knights. Wisconsin has been red-hot offensively, shooting an incredible 59% from the floor (71-of-119) and 52% from three (28-of-53) over their last two games. However, such efficiency is unsustainable, which is why we are fading both offenses tonight. The play here is the Under at 140.5.
Minnesota's fatigue from Monday's marathon game, coupled with Wisconsin's unsustainable shooting streak, sets up perfectly for a low-scoring contest. Adding to this, the Gophers boast the nation's best three-point defense on the road. They also rank in the top 75 in overall defense, with the ability to force turnovers and block shots. Furthermore, Minnesota is disciplined on defense, ranking inside the top 180 in free throw rate defense. Their saving grace, however, is not their offense. The Gophers rank 285th in adjusted offensive efficiency, dead last in three-point percentage, and eighth worst in free-throw shooting. Simply put, they cannot score effectively.
Despite Wisconsin's recent offensive surge, regression is expected. Fortunately, their defense is solid, ranked inside the top 75 nationally and 57th in adjusted defensive efficiency against top-100 opponents. The Badgers defend the perimeter and the paint equally well, ranking inside the top 90 in both areas.
Pace will also play a critical role in this matchup. Wisconsin ranks 174th in tempo, but Minnesota is the seventh slowest team in the nation. Their deliberate pace will likely slow down the Badgers' style, especially as the Gophers look to preserve their energy. Given Minnesota's dreadful offense and poor shooting, trusting them to cover the spread is a risky proposition. The Under remains the best play here.
