Super Tuesday brings Big East action to the South Loop as DePaul hosts Georgetown at Wintrust Arena. Both teams enter this matchup looking to build momentum after recent conference results. DePaul continues to rely on its defensive identity under Chris Holtmann, using effort and physicality to stay competitive each night. Georgetown, meanwhile, leans on its defense as well, especially away from home, where it has shown the ability to limit quality looks. With both offenses struggling for consistency and the tempo expected to be slow, this sets up as a grind it out type of game where every possession matters from start to finish.

Georgetown vs. DePaul Bet
Welcome to Super Tuesday as we head to the South Loop of Chicago, where the DePaul Blue Demons host the Georgetown Hoyas. This Tuesday night Big East matchup should be action packed, as the Hoyas look to bounce back after a tough home loss to the Red Storm. Meanwhile, the Blue Demons are aiming to keep their winning ways alive after a victory over Xavier this past weekend. Who wants it more? Let us dive in.
Rock Fight Incoming
Based on how both teams have performed defensively this season, I want to be all over the under in this spot. The pace should be snail like. Away from home, the Hoyas rank 304th in tempo, while DePaul sits 218th overall this season. Points should come at a premium, and this game should stay under 146.
It brings a tear to this two time DePaul alumni's eyes to see DePaul competing at a high level in conference play this season. They stumbled out of the gate with a loss to Buffalo, a team that later proved to be far better than expected. Since that early season loss they have turned it around, their last four games have come against St. John's, UConn, Villanova, and Xavier. They are 3-1 against the spread to open conference play. This team is playing exceptional DePaul basketball. The offense is flawed, but the defense has kept them alive. Head coach Chris Holtmann has made it clear that this team's identity will be defense. So far, they rank 63rd in adjusted defensive efficiency on Bart Torvik. The unit has excelled at forcing turnovers, guarding the interior, and limiting three point attempts.
Offensively, the Blue Demons have struggled in several key areas, especially at home, where they rank 203rd in adjusted offensive efficiency. They are inefficient on the inside at 220th and are not a strong rebounding team either, ranking 214th on both ends. Surprisingly, they are 24th in free throw rate offense, but the downside is a 214th ranking in free throw percentage.
Similar Style
Similar to DePaul, Georgetown is far better on defense than offense. Away from home this season, they rank 88th in adjusted defensive efficiency. They sit inside the top 70 in eFG% defense, two point percentage defense, and block percentage defense at 18th. The Hoyas are also 87th in defensive rebounding. In their three true road games, those numbers improve significantly. Their adjusted defensive efficiency jumps to 39th, eFG% defense improves to 20th, and both three point and two point defense rank inside the top 60.
On the offensive end, Georgetown struggles in several key areas. They rank 317th in eFG% offense, 335th in three point percentage, and 260th in two point percentage. DePaul already does an excellent job limiting three point attempts, so Georgetown should have a tough time generating clean looks beyond the arc tonight at Wintrust Arena.
With DePaul coming off a very efficient offensive performance against Xavier on Saturday, I expect regression and for the Hoyas defense to keep them in check. This feels like a rock fight in the South Loop. Under 146.
