Just 12 miles of highway separate two of the biggest blue bloods in college basketball, and the first edition of this season's saga happens this weekend in Chapel Hill. The No. 4 Duke Blue Devils head to the Dean Smith Center to take on the No. 14 North Carolina Tar Heels. Duke has just one loss all year long and are a perfect 10-0 in ACC play, but can they keep their perfect conference season alive against their biggest rival? The Tar Heels fell apart in the final few minutes of their game against Syracuse, but perhaps they were looking ahead to this contest. Let's get into our expert's favorite picks in this matchup.

#4 Duke Blue Devils vs. #14 North Carolina Tar Heels NCAA Basketball Insights

Jon Scheyer and Duke take on North Carolina in Chapel Hill this Saturday
Last season, Duke got the best of the Tar Heels in this rivalry in both meetings during the regular season, and beat them a third time in the ACC Tournament. However the year prior, North Carolina knocked off the Dukies in both meetings. This is one of the oldest rivalries in all of college sports, with the first official contest happening in January of 1920, when the Tar Heels beat Trinity College (now Duke) by a score of 35-26.
After losing to their rival three times last season, you've got to think the Tar Heels will wake up for this one, and clearly they were looking ahead in the final 10 minutes against Syracuse during the week. Can they give their fans something to celebrate on Saturday night at home?

Look for Henri Veesaar and North Carolina to put up plenty of a fight against Duke this weekend
Duke vs. North Carolina Prediction: North Carolina Wins Outright, Over 150.5
Best Bet: North Carolina Team Total Over 72.5 (-115) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
I thought about backing North Carolina on the spread, but it is ticking down and I missed out on the +6.5 which is no longer available. The over also caught my eye, as it is down two points from opening at 152.5 as well, but instead I opted for the Tar Heels' team total. They will control the pace of this game at home, and that means speeding things up.
North Carolina ranks No. 135 overall in pace, but jump to No. 88 at home, averaging over 70.5 possessions per game. This team is very efficient offensively and shoot the ball well. Plus, they are top 20 in FT Rate defense as well. The only thing they could do better on defense is forcing turnovers, but regardless, they are still No. 4 in the country in opponent eFG%.
Duke does not like to run, but they might not have a choice in this game. Throughout the season, they have allowed over this number to teams that like to speed up the game, such as Lipscomb, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Louisville, and SMU. Plus the Arkansas Razorbacks came up just short with 71 total points, but still covered the double digit spread. At home, the Tar Heels should be more than capable of making this a ball game and putting up plenty of points.
