All 18 teams in the Big Ten are headed to the Windy City this week as the conference tournament gets started on Tuesday. Now the Michigan Wolverines took home the regular season title with just one loss in league play, but can they win three straight and capture the automatic qualifying big for the Big Ten as well? Or are we going to have Cinderella dancing in Chicago before the real deal? Let's check out the odds to win the Big Ten Conference Tournament and find out if our CBB experts have any picks.

The top four seeds are automatically in the quarterfinals of this competition, but it's nice that every single member gets a shot. Sure, it's much harder for the 15-18 seeds, as they would need to win six straight games to make the Big Dance, but at least all get to participate, unlike some other major conferences (*cough cough*… the ACC). Regardless, the bookmakers don't have much faith in anyone taking down the Wolverines, as they are currently priced at -120 to win the Big Ten Conference Tournament.

  • Michigan -120
  • Illinois +425
  • Michigan State +700
  • Purdue +750
  • Nebraska +1000
  • Wisconsin +2500
  • UCLA +3500
  • Iowa +5000
  • Ohio State +6000
  • Indiana 150-1
  • Minnesota 300-1
  • Northwestern 300-1
  • Oregon 300-1
  • USC 300-1
  • Washington 300-1

The odds are intriguing to me, as the No. 2 seed Nebraska Huskers actually are fifth on the betting board to win the tournament. Ironically, the Illini have the second best odds, but they would face the No. 1 seeded Wolverines in a semifinal contest. Could there still be value on Brad Underwood's team? I certainly think so.

It's also a bit telling that the Purdue Boilermakers, who ended up finishing No. 7 in the league have the fourth shortest odds to win the entire tournament. Even though they need to play an extra game, and go through Nebraska, they still have better odds overall, which leads to believe bookmakers will have them favored over Nebraska in a potential quarterfinal contest.

Best Bet: Illinois to Win the Big Ten (+425) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

I have been high on this Illini team all year long, and I'm not sure why I would stray away now. Sure, they have a tough quarterfinal contest against *most likely* Wisconsin who have been playing great, but I would certainly side with the Illini in what would be a revenge spot after losing to the Badgers at the State Farm Center. It's not quite a home environment for Illinois, as Champaign is about a two hour drive from Chicago, but I still expect plenty of orange to be in the crowd.

Now, can the Illini take down the Wolverines? Absolutely. They matchup well, have the big bodies to combat Michigan's size, and offensively they have multiple scoring options. Plus, I have much more faith in the Illini's ability to extend the floor and shoot from downtown than I do with the Wolverines. If the Illini take down Michigan, I don't see Purdue, Sparty or Nebraska standing a chance in the Big Ten Championship.

However, as more of a long shot, I think Michigan State is the way to go. They are on the easier side of the bracket (in my eyes), and will certainly be favored over the Huskers or Boilermakers in a semifinal. I would also expect them to be underdogs to either Michigan or Illinois, meaning a +700 future on the Spartans would see plenty of value and opportunities to hedge if they made it all the way to the title game.
