Can Auburn make the NIT Semifinals with a win at home tonight? NCAA Basketball Picks

We have a massive Super Tuesday CBB slate today following a very exciting Big Monday. There are a total of just 38 college hoops games on today's betting board, but that didn't stop us from finding a couple of our favorites. I'll be giving a full breakdown of most of the slate on my show at noon eastern on the Betting News Network, but here's some in depth analysis for two of my favorite NCAA Basketball picks for today.

Best NCAA Basketball Picks and Predictions February 24

Cincinnati Bearcats vs. #16 Texas Tech Red Raiders NCAA Basketball Picks

Can Christian Anderson do everything the Red Raiders need of him without JT Toppin on the floor? NCAA Basketball Picks

Can Christian Anderson do everything the Red Raiders need of him without JT Toppin on the floor?

Best Bet: Texas Tech -7 (-108) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Now I was able to snag -5.5 last night for the Red Raiders, but I think the seven is safe. To be honest with you, I could see the Red Raiders winning by double digits, and most advanced analytics agree with me. Greg Peterson has the Red Raiders by 10.5, Bart Torvik has them by 9.3, and Haslametrics has them winning by 11. This one could get ugly.

It's a very stereotypical "let down" spot for the Bearcats. They just pulled off a miraculous victory over the Kansas Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse, winning by 16 points as 10 point underdogs. Now they have to go to Lubbock, arguably a top three venue in the Big 12, and try and pull off another win. Yes, Texas Tech is without JT Toppin, but that didn't stop them from putting up 100 against Kansas State at home last Saturday.

Could the Red Raiders be looking ahead to next Saturday's contest in Ames? Certainly. But without Toppin, they know how crucial every single win is down the stretch. Plus, Cincinnati had probably their best offensive game of the season against the Jayhawks.

The Bearcats have won four straight games and posted a 57.8% eFG% on the road in Lawrence, and they shot 39% from deep. Typically they shoot just 32% from deep and have an eFG% of 50%. It was an offensive outlier, and I don't see it happening twice in a row against top 15 teams. The Bearcats like to run and will push this pace, and while they do have a solid defense, giving the Red Raiders extra possessions will just make it easier for them to cover. I only see this line moving in one direction, and it wouldn't surprise me if it closes closer to double digits than the opener.

Auburn Tigers vs. Oklahoma Sooners NCAA Basketball Picks

Nijel Pack and the Sooners see their March Madness hopes slipping through their fingers as they are just 3-11 in SEC play this season - NCAA Basketball Picks

Nijel Pack and the Sooners see their March Madness hopes slipping through their fingers as they are just 3-11 in SEC play this season

Best Bet: Auburn/Oklahoma Over 158 (-111) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

We love points and we'll be backing both offenses in Norman this evening. As I've said before about the Sooners, they do not play any defense. I would even categorize them as having negative amounts of defense from time to time. Auburn is the same way.

The Tigers are No. 12 in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency, ranking top 10 in both offensive rebounds and FT Rate, while breaking the top 30 in taking care of the basketball. But defensively, they are outside the top 100 overall, and are north of 260 in opponent eFG% (No. 325 on the road) and offensive rebounds allowed. Plus their perimeter defense is abysmal, allowing opponents to shoot 39% from beyond the arc.

Oklahoma is a team that loves to shoot the three (top 65 in 3P Rate) and do so well, knocking down over 38% of their shots from deep in their own gym. This team is top 30 in offensive efficiency, top 60 in eFG%, and take great care of the basketball while crashing the offensive glass. But like Auburn, they disappear on the other side of the floor. The Sooners are north of 200 in opponent eFG%, north of 300 in forcing turnovers, and are No. 278 in offensive rebounds allowed.

Both teams will give up plenty of second chance points, and I see the Sooners lighting it up from deep, like they do all the time at home. There will be plenty of opportunities for points to be scored, and I believe both teams will touch 80 in this game, forcing the total over.
