#5 Nebraska vs. #3 Michigan Bet
Easily the biggest game of the evening features two of the most interesting teams of the season. No. 5 Nebraska heads to Ann Arbor to take on No. 3 Michigan. Will tonight be the night the Cornhuskers are finally handed their first loss of the season? They enter as double digit road underdogs. The line has dropped from 11.5 and now sits at 10.5 on Lucky Rebel. With all eyes on Nebraska and its perfect season on the ropes, can the Cornhuskers secure another top 100 win, or will Michigan be more motivated than ever at home?
Has the Time Come?
It has to be today, right? Today feels like the day Nebraska comes back to reality after its remarkable 20-0 start. This team has been a joy to watch, but like many others believe, the fall feels inevitable. We are talking about the 22nd worst team in consistency, per Haslametrics. On the site, he states, "Nebraska has a sizeable momentum edge here. They come into this contest playing above their norm, ranked 20th in the country in positive momentum, while Michigan, fourth from the bottom, has performed a bit below its own standards recently." Nebraska is also ranked 214th in away home court metrics, while Michigan ranks 58th at home.
Michigan has been one of the most dominant teams in the country, despite not covering a spread since January 2nd against USC. The Wolverines are still 18-1 straight up and feel more than due for another dominating performance. Nebraska also has the biggest target on its back of any team in the country right now, and Michigan should be more than motivated to put belt to tailpipe on this stage.
Through ten home games this season, the Wolverines own the seventh best offense and the second best defense. Overall, they excel at attacking the glass, blocking shots, rebounding, getting to the free throw line, and keeping opponents off the line. They are also elite at guarding the interior, ranking 18th in the country. Teams have struggled to defend Nebraska shot making, and this feels like the perfect defensive unit to slow down a highly efficient Cornhuskers offense.
Nebraska offense has been one of the most lethal in the country, but it does have notable flaws. The biggest issues are offensive rebounding and getting to the line, where the Cornhuskers rank in the bottom 100. Through five true road games, Nebraska is also 191st in two point defense and 152nd in three point defense. This sets up as the day the Cornhuskers finally fall, and fall hard.
Give me the Wolverines to put belt to rear end this evening.
