UConn vs. Illinois Final Four Preview

Dan Hurley and the Huskies survived and advanced on a miraculous shot, but that's what March is all about. Braylon Mullins was 0/4 from deep before making the one that mattered, sending UConn to their third Final Four in just four seasons. Can they make a run at a third title as well?

They face an Illinois team that has bulldozed through anyone in their path in March. But as history tells us, no team who failed to win a conference tournament has had their One Shining Moment. The Illini are also the odd man out in terms of ranking in the top 12 of the Week 6 AP Poll, like all champions have since 2004 (Illinois was ranked No. 13).

I have a 40-1 future on the Illini, and a smarter man than I would hedge. But instead, I'm not going to be a moron, I'm gonna put more on. Illinois by two possessions.

Arizona vs. Michigan Final Four Preview

I am very torn on this game, but here's where my head is at. I like the over. There should be plenty of pace and plenty of points as these two teams go back and forth putting on a show. As far as a side goes, I was always going to bet the underdog in this matchup.

Getting either of these completely dominant teams with a plus sign next to them is what I would consider "value". Therefore, give me the Wildcats. They've been my pick to cut down the nets, and they've shown me no reason to doubt them. This team has the inside presence to hang with Michigan, and will make it tough on Elliot Cadeau to conduct an offense.

It works out for me, because I'll bet on Arizona, I have them in my bracket, but I do have the Wolverines in a March Madness calcutta pool, and a win would mean we automatically profit as a team. Either way, I'll be happy as we watch the two best teams in college hoops go at it with a trip to the National Championship on the line.
