Thanks to a monster Game 3 performance by Devin Booker, the Phoenix Suns came up with a big road win over the shorthanded Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night.

After taking a valuable 2-1 lead in the series, the Suns will aim to take further advantage of the Clippers' lack of star power to take a 3-1 lead this afternoon (3:30 pm ET, TNT).

Are the Clippers Doomed Without Their Stars?

There is a lot that can be said about how the Clippers performed in Game 3 while without Kawhi (right knee sprain), in addition to Paul George, who hasn't played since March 21, also due to a right knee sprain.

Norman Powell led the team with 42 points, while Russell Westbrook had 30 points, eight rebounds, and a dozen assists. Also, Bones Hyland had 20 points after scoring only nine points in the first two games of the series.

That trio combined to shoot 12 of 23 from three and 32 of 58 overall from the field, while the rest of the team attempted only 25 shots overall (making 13) and hit just 3 of 12 from three.

A little more from the supporting cast could go a long way in Game 4, as would somehow limiting Booker. After pouring in 38 points in a Game 2 win in Phoenix, Booker went off for 45 in Game 3 to lead the way for the Suns in their 129-124 win.

In the regular season, the Suns were just 12-8 SU when Booker put up 30 or more points, and they lost their last five regular season games in which he hit the 30-point mark.

But a healthy Kevin Durant is a major boost, and so is getting solid contributions elsewhere. In Games 2 and 3, all five of Phoenix's starters scored in double figures.

That includes Torrey Craig, who has had a rather unexpected and significant impact. Craig averaged only 7.4 PPG in the regular season, but he has scored 22, 17, and 15 points in the first three games of this series, and he is shooting 69.2% from the field, 62.5% from three, and 88.9% from the foul line.

As much as the Clippers were able to be competitive in Game 3, they weren't able to keep up with the Suns in the end despite the big performances they got from Powell, Westbrook, and Hyland.

With Kawhi still out, I don't see the Clippers faring any better in Game 4. They may be able to compete as they did in Game 3, but having no answer for Booker yet again will contribute to their eventual demise.

With Craig shooting the way he has been thus far in the series, he is going to continue to get opportunities to score. In Game 3, he took only five shots, but all three that he made were threes, and he was also 6 of 6 from the stripe.

Craig's 54 points in the series have come on only 26 overall shot attempts (18 makes) and nine free-throw attempts (eight makes). If he continues to make the most of his opportunities like he has, he won't need too many shots for this number to hit.

As for Booker, I expect him to stay hot after his back-to-back big games.

In Game 2, Booker shot 63.6% (14 of 22) from the field, and he followed that up by shooting 62.1% (18 of 29) from the field in Game 3. It's going to be a tall order to cool him off in Game 4, and I don't think the Clippers are up to the task.
