76ers vs Nets Game 4 Predictions and Best Bets cover

nba

A change in venue didn't bring about a change in results in the series between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets, as the Sixers rallied for a Game 3 win last night at Barclays Center to take a 3-0 lead in the series.

After winning the first two games of the series by 21 and 12 at home, the Sixers led by 11 at halftime of Game 3 and appeared to be well on their way to another comfortable win.

Instead, the Nets outscored them 35-18 in the third quarter to take an 82-76 lead into the final 12 minutes. But the Sixers stayed within striking distance throughout the fourth, and in the final minute, Tyrese Maxey nailed a go-ahead three to put Philly on the path to a 102-97 win.

Will Brooklyn shake off that tough loss to keep the series alive tomorrow afternoon? Or will Philadelphia become the first team to advance to the second round of this year's playoffs? Read on for our 76ers vs Nets prediction, as well as our best bets for the matchup.

Will the Nets Remain Alive by Continuing to Contain Embiid?

Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers NBA

It hasn't altered the result of any of the first three games, but the Nets have done about as good a job at limit Joel Embiid's impact as they possibly could.

First Three Games for Joel Embiid

  • 121-101 Sixers win Game 1: 26 points (7 of 15 FG, 1 of 4 3PT, 11 of 11 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two turnovers
  • 96-84 Sixers win in Game 2: 20 points (6 of 11 FG, 0 of 1 3PT, 8 of 8 FT), 19 rebounds, seven assists, eight turnovers
  • 102-97 Sixers win in Game 3: 14 points (5 of 13 FG, 0 of 3 3PT, 4 of 5 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, five turnovers

But despite Embiid being limited, the 76ers are within a win of moving on because others have stepped up.

The most notable contributions have come from Maxey, who scored 33 points in Game 2, accounting for over a third of the Sixers' points in their 96-84 win. Then in Game 3, he led the team with 25 points. Ten of those points came in the fourth, with the last eight helping Philadelphia overcome a five-point deficit in the final two minutes of the game.

Eventually though, Embiid is going to break out, and there's a good chance that it will be in Game 4.

In the regular season, Embiid did not go consecutive games without scoring at least 25 points, and he had only one stretch in which he went three or more games without scoring 30 points.

In the regular season, the 76ers won 68.2% of their games in which Embiid scored 30 or more points, going 30-14 SU. When he didn't hit the 30-point mark, the Sixers went 13-9 SU (59.1%).
