UFC Vegas 123 Renato Moicano vs Tom Nolan Main Card Preview, Odds, Watch Info & FAQ

mma

The UFC is taking the action back to the apex this week for an exciting 12 fight card. It will be hard to top the fireworks of last weeks event, but the UFC has put together a rather exciting card to attempt.

Headlining the event is talented young prospect Tom Nolan looking to climb even further up the rankings. Renato Moicano is ranked #12 at lightweight and will be looking to capitalize on the momentum of a big finish in his last fight.

In order to climb the rankings even further, Nolan will have to pass multiple veteran tests along the way. Moicano is the first stop on that tour and he will have his hands full.

The Co – Main Event brings the action as well as Jacobe Smith is stepping in on short notice to take on Randy Brown. The prospect is looking to continue his dominant run in the biggest test of his career.

The action all starts tonight live from the Apex Arena in Las Vegas Nevada! Lets waste no more time and dive right into a preview of the Main Card!

Main Event: Renato Moicano vs Tom Nolan Preview – Lightweight

UFC Vegas 123 Renato Moicano vs Tom Nolan Main Card Preview, Odds, Watch Info & FAQ

Exciting Lightweight Main Event

The Main Event of the evening is sure to bring the fireworks. Tom Nolan looks to continue his winning streak over the veteran Renato Moicano in the 5 round Main Event.

The prospect is coming into this match up with Moicano red hot, winning 5 straight fights. His performances have earned him his first Main Event in his career, with a huge opportunity to climb the rankings.

Nolan is an 11-1 Aussie prospect who first got his shot in the UFC by earning a contract on DWCS in 2023. A highlight reel 1st round knockout impressed Dana enough to give him a shot in the UFC.

Unfortunately in his first crack at UFC action just 6 months later, Nolan lost as a big favorite to Nikolas Motta. In true warrior fashion, Nolan was knocked out in round one proving the age old saying, live by the sword and die by it as well.

That would have been a career altering loss for many prospects, having your dream crushed right off the bat. Nolan has proven he is not like other prospects, by using it as a lesson to improve.

Since, Nolan has shown vastly improved cardio in some fights and absorbing damage proficiently proving he does not have a glass chin. The grappling has been somewhat of a concern thus far in his career.

Recently he has shown improvements, defending many takedowns against Ziam and still edging out the win. He will need every bit of that grappling defense against such a high level grappler like Moicano.

If Nolan is able to stuff the takedowns and get his gameplan going to find big power shots, he should get the win here. At just 26 years old, Nolan has a bright future ahead of him win or lose.

Will Nolan Pass His Veteran Test?

Moicano is nearing the end of his career at 37 years old, he has many fight miles over the years. I suspect retirement is in the near future, as he has always been very open about investments and taking his youtube/media more seriously.

In his last fight in the UFC, he shocked the world as a big underdog submitting Chris Duncan in the 1st round. Duncan is a highly touted contender, Moicano ran right through him.

The impressive performance showed that even at his age, Moicano is as dangerous as ever. His B.j.j is next level, earning him a very impressive 7 submission victories in his tenure.

Moicano joined the UFC 12 years ago and has amassed 20 fights in that span. His record in the UFC is 13-7 and to add on to the 7 submissions, he also has 2 knockouts in his tenure.

There have been times where he has shown his cardio as well, adding 4 decision victories along the way. Moicano has proven to be very durable as well, his chin has been an asset to him thus far.

There have been a few knock out losses in his career, but his chin has seemingly got better with his age. Moicano has not been knocked out since 2020, a run of 8 fights.

In his run, Moicano has fought the highest competition and just about any fight style. Nolan will bring a big power edge into the match up, but will he have enough to put Moicano away?
