Main Event: Erick Visconde vs Ilias Bulaid Preview – Featherweight

The Rescheduled Main Event Of The Final Episode of DWCS
The final installment of this season of Dana White's Contender series is upon us. The main event features a match up that was originally supposed to happen earlier in the season but Ilias Bulaid was forced to pull out due to illness.
The UFC simply rescheduled his bout against Erick Visconde for the Main Event later in the season. A good choice as this is a banger of a fight and probably should have been a featured bout to begin with.
Both prospects are highly skilled and said to be UFC level already, making the match up ever more interesting. Visconde is by far the more experienced side of the match up, with 20 professional bouts under his belt.
Even with having so many pro bouts, Visconde is still the younger fighter in the match up carrying a 2 year age advantage over Bulaid. The style of Visconde also contrasts that of Bulaid, with Visconde being a much more well rounded fighter very experienced in the grappling department.
In 6 of his 17 pro wins Visconde has proven his level of B.J.J by submitting his opponents. Visconde has also showed off his hands on his run, winning 4 of his 17 fights by way of knockout.
Not only is Visconde the more experienced fighter in Pro MMA, he has also fought much higher level of competition thus far coming from the LFA promotion. In his time with LFA, he went 4-1 with his lone lose coming to a decorated submission artist Joao Pedro Saldanha.
There is no doubt Visconde has fully earned his shot on the contender series, now it is just a matter of if his skills will hold up at this level. Bulaid may be less experienced in Pro MMA, but he had a long kickboxing career before stepping into MMA in 2018.
Will Bulaid Take Advantage Of His Second Opportunity?
A very decorated Kickboxer, Bulaid went 19-3 in his career before signing to Bellator to try his hand at MMA in 2019. Bellator was the biggest competitor to UFC for a long time and Bulaid found great success there to start his career going 3-0 with the promotion.
Since, he has fought on much lower level regional promotions, padding his record against much lower competition. Despite fighting lower competition, Bulaid has done exactly what he was supposed to by running through all these prospects with fantastic finishes.
Bulaid has finished his last 4 wins and was looking to carry momentum into this contender series match up before a fight day illness wiped the opportunity. Now after a minor set back, Bulaid looks to prove his worth with a big finish to earn a UFC contract.
I believe most people are thinking this is a lay up for the seasoned kickboxer, but as we know MMA math does not always make sense. Visconde has all the tools to stifle the kickboxing threat from Bulaid, proving this to be one of the more interesting match ups of the season.
