UFC Vegas 122 is set to go down tonight at the newly renovated UFC Apex! Although this is not a card that contains to many big names in the sport, it is packed with violent match ups through out the card!
Including the headlining match up of Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan. Allen is technically the #1 contender behind Imavov, who is likely already fighting for the title soon anyways.
This would make the winner of this match up the undoubted #1 contender and brings the highest of stakes. The Co – Main event also features pure violence, with veteran Jai Herbert taking on the rising prospect Matheus Camilo.
Both fighters are coming off massive knockout wins and will look to keep the momentum rolling in a big opportunity to showcase. Fight day is upon us, so lets not waste any more time and dive right into a preview of the Main Card tonight!

Main Event: Brendan Allen vs Christian Leroy Duncan Preview – Middleweight

The Lone Face Off Between Main Event Fighters Ahead Of The Main Event
The Main Event for UFC Vegas 122 has been made official with both fighters coming in on weight. Christian Leroy Duncan will look to keep his winning streak and rise to the top of the division going when he takes on Brendan Allen.
Not only is this the biggest opportunity of Duncan's career, but it is also his first 5 round and headlining spot. Thus far Duncan has mostly lived up to his hype and expectations, but the lights have never been brighter.
The UK star first got his shot with the UFC back in 2023 and has quickly amassed 10 fights already. Upon arriving to the promotion Duncan was still very green to MMA, only being known for his versatile and flashy striking.
This style actually caused him to lose twice in his tenure, going thru the process of a true prospect. Many times prospects must be taught a veteran lesson and suffer a tough loss to excel to the next level.
That is exactly what happened to Duncan as since he has become much more well rounded and has taken his wrestling to new levels. In his fights with Cannonier and Tulio, Duncan landed a takedown in each fight which earned him the victory.
Will Duncan Claim The #1 Contenders Spot?
The combination of his wild yet versatile striking and solid wrestling could present major issues for many opponents. By watching these match ups, I did notice one weakness that someone will be able to take advantage of.
When Duncan is taken down and trying to work back to his feet, he often gets to his knees while giving up his back. This is typical from many standard wrestlers, but very dangerous against submission artists.
It leaves the neck open to be taken and if Duncan is not careful, Allen is the perfect fighter to take advantage of that. Allen has become a full blown UFC veteran at this point due to joining the UFC at 24 years old.
Despite still being only 30 years old, Allen has racked up 19 UFC fights in just 7 years now. He has put together an impressive resume going 19-4 on his run, with his only losses coming to top prospects like Hernandez, Strictland, and Imavov.
The longevity of his career does present an issue though. By being so active and in so many wars this early, his chin has taken a beating over the years.
Can Allen Firmly State His Claim As Next In Line For The Title Shot?
Allen has been knocked out in two of his four losses in the UFC, along with being knocked down several other times. Even in fights he has won, he was knocked down.
The submission skills are not to be questioned, as he has racked up 7 submission wins in the UFC. The interesting part about that is , 6 of them have come by Rear naked choke.
This basically means, if Allen is able to take your back he will most likely finish the fight. As I mentioned previously, this is a problem Duncan has in his game.
With Allen having such a clear advantage in grappling and Duncan having the clear advantage in striking it makes for such an exciting main event. Will Duncan be able to find Allens chin or will Allen take Duncan's back to finish the fight first?
The one thing I know for sure is this bout will be pure violence from start to finish. I highly favor the Under total rounds in this match up due to the violence, it is very unlikely this fight sees the judges score cards.
