MMA fans are in for a treat as the UFC has put together a fantastic card at UFC Vegas 119 Saturday night. UFC Brass have not allowed for much of a hangover from the UFC Freedom card with such a great card.
It seems as if the UFC is rolling the momentum of the Freedom 250 card into a high level fight card at the Apex. The card is headlined by a massive match up in the Flyweight division.
Manel Kape will take on Kyoji Horiguchi in a #1 contenders match up. The winner will more then likely get the next title shot at Flyweight.
Despite such a banger of a Main Event, the UFC has quietly put together a 7 fight under card with many top prospects. This may be one of the rare instances where a Preliminary card outshines the Main Card.
With all the excitement of the card coming to a head just 3 days away from the event its time we get into it. Lets not waste anymore time and dive into a preview of the Preliminary card at UFC Vegas 119 live from the Apex in Las Vegas!

Featured Prelim: Andre Lima vs Kevin Borjas Preview – Flyweight

Top Flyweight Prospects Face Off In The Featured Preliminary Bout
Top flyweight prospect Andre Lima is set to take on Kevin Borjas in the featured Preliminary bout. Borjas is looking to bounce back from back to back losses in his previous 2 bouts.
The UFC has done him no favor giving him this match up to bounce back. If we are being honest, the UFC has not thrown him a bone since joining the UFC in 2023.
Borjas earned his contract on the contender series with a flashy knockout over Victor Dias. The Knockout was enough to impress Dana White, who granted him a contract for the win.
It is safe to say he has not had the best start to his career. In his 5 fights with the UFC the prospect has a record of 1-4, being finished in 2 of those 4 losses.
As previously mentioned, the UFC has thrown him to the wolves early in his career. All 5 of his match ups in the UFC have come against top prospects.
The 4 losses weigh differently in that aspect as he has taken on the highest level of competition early in his career. His resume shows one glaring weakness, his take down defense.
A striking battle has proven to be Borjas biggest chance at victory. The match up with Andre Lima is more likely then not going to give him that opportunity.
Andre Lima is a powerful Brazillian prospect that has impressed many since his debut. Much like his counter part he is also a contender series alumni.
Though it must be mentioned he earned his contract in much less impressive fashion. Lima impressed Dana white with a 3 round beatdown of Ricksom Zenidim.
Will Lima Rise To The Opportunity?
Though he was unable to get the finish, he showed flashes of top level talent. Since joining the UFC he has helped prove that by winning 4 straight bouts.
His debut came at much controversy as his opponent Igor Severino was Disqualified after a severe bite. Lima was defending the takedowns so well, his opponent felt he had to actually bite him to get him down.
That speaks volumes to his skill level in my oppinion. The UFC has begun to test his skills by giving him a step up in competition in each of his appearances.
Lima has risen to the occasion each time, looking better and better in each bout. This is the first match up the UFC has given him that is more of a lay up and he is expected to shine.
MMA fans have not seen Lima in action in over a year despite being booked 3 times. It seems as if he had a bad stroke of luck as one was rescheduled, one he was injured, and the last his opponent was injured.
The time off may have done him good or may provide some ring rust. At 27 years old, I expect Lima to not succumb to the ring rust and shine in a big opportunity.
A highlight reel finish could propel Lima up the Flyweight rankings. Borjas will not give it up that easy though, as he is likely fighting for his job here, this should provide a fantastic matchup to cap off the preliminary card!
