The UFC is back this weekend for UFC Fight night with the first Apex card held on Paramount+. The exciting 12 fight card saw some controversy yesterday as 4 fighters failed to hit the weight limit mark and were fined parts of their purse.
All fights were made official despite the weight struggles and the card is set to kick off as scheduled. The headlining bout of Mario Bautista vs Vinicius Oliveira is what is driving most of the hype of this card.
A highly skilled match up but most fans should know the entire main card is filled with these types of match ups! I have made this preview breaking down each fight on the main card so lets get right into it for UFC Fight night live from The UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Main Event: Mario Bautista vs Vinicius Oliveira Preview – Bantamweight

HIghly Anticipated Main Event
The 5 round Main Event for Saturday night is a match up between top Bantamweight contenders. Mario Bautista will take on rising prospect Vinicius Oliveira in what will be both fighters first headlining spot.
A surprising fact when considering Bautistas 13 fight UFC run. In the span he has gone 10-3 and cemented himself as a serviceable veteran within the UFC.
Although he suffered a set back in his last bout with Umar Nurmagomedov, losing a unanimous decision. The loss set him back on his road to the title and snapped an impressive 8 fight winning streak.
The UFC has done him no favors in his very next bout, with a tough match up against an aggressive young contender. Vinicius Oliveira has made quite the splash since joining the UFC off the Contender Series.
A debut flying knee KO in a tough fight is what really shot him to super stardom. The Brazilian prospect has since gone on to win 3 straight fights and cashing as an underdog several times.
It seems like Oliveira keeps getting disrespected by the sportsbooks just to prove them wrong. Oliveira is a very aggressive come forward striker that is not very technical but holds serious power in his strikes.
There is no doubt Oliveira will push the pace but it remains to be seen what his cardio will look like later in the rounds. In his recent fights his striking output has actually increases as the fight goes on despite the optics of him being tired.
Oliveira will look to pass the veteran test here to shoot himself up the rankings and Bautista has stifled prospects before. This is sure to be an exciting bout for as long as it lasts!
Mario Bautista vs Vinicius Oliveira Odds:
- Moneyline: Mario Bautista(-140) vs Vinicius Oliveira (+120)
- Round Total: 4.5 Total Rounds – Over (+118) / Under (-138)
- Most Likely Method Of Victory: Mario Bautista By Points (+150)
Co – Main Event: Amir Albazi vs Kyoji Horiguchi Preview – Flyweight

Flyweight Bout With High Stakes
An exciting Flyweight bout is set to take place as the Co – Main Event Saturday night. Amir Albazi will make his return to defend his ranking against emerging star Kyoji Horiguchi.
Horiguchi has made a career resurgence after being leaving the UFC in 2016. The Veteran went 7-1 in his first UFC stint, with his only loss coming to legend Demetrius Johnson.
After making his return in November, Horiguchi will make the sharp turn around to steal a spot in the rankings from Albazi. In a career best performance, Horiguchi earned this opportunity with a dominating win over Tagir Ulanbekov.
Albazi has not been on the best streak himself just having 2 fights in almost 3 years due to neck injury. In 2023 he won a very controversial decision to Kai Kara France just to sit out a year and look career worse his next performance.
In a match up where the grappling should cancel out. Albazi has a tough task in the striking department to secure a win against Horiguchi.
Amir Albazi vs Kyoji Horiguchi Odds:
- Moneyline: Amir Albazi (+280) vs Kyoji Horiguchi (-350)
- Round Total: 2.5 Total Rounds – Over (-240) / Under (+200)
- Most Likely Method Of Victory: Kyoji Horiguchi By Points (-155)
Jailton Almeida vs Rizvan Kuniev Preview – Heavyweight

Hard Hitting Heavyweight Bout
The big boys have earned themselves a spot on the main card. Jailton Almeida returns in a match up with upcoming prospect Rizvan Kuniev.
In an unfortunate series of fights it seems as if Almeida has lost all his hype. An embarrassing KO loss to Curtis Blaydes set him back a ton but he went on to put together a 2 fight winning streak.
Even after garnering a little momentum back, he went on to lose a very boring split decision to Alexander Volkov. The Brazilian was a wet blanket, smothering Volkov with wrestling yet not actually doing anything to damage Volkov.
The striking of Almeida does not seem to be getting any better and there could be a real aggression problem with Almeida. Kuniev on the other hand does not have an aggression problem often moving forward winging big punches with fight ending intentions.
A big plus in this match up with Almeida is Kuniev is a balanced wrestler in his own right. The wrestling could possibly cancel itself out here and what will this fight look like if it becomes a 15 minute striking match?
Jailton Almeida vs Rizvan Kuniev Odds:
- Moneyline: Jailton Almeida ( -160) vs Rizvan Kuniev (+140)
- Round Total: 1.5 Total Rounds – Over (-133) / Under (+113)
- Most Likely Method Of Victory: Jailton Almeida By Submission (+200)
Michal Oleksiejczuk vs Marc – Andre Barriault Preview – Middleweight

Barn Burner Of A Middle Weight Match Up
A violent middleweight match up lies on the Main Card. Russian knock out artist Oleksiejczuk will take on the Canadian brawler Andre – Barriault in an exciting match up.
Oleksiejczuk has been on an impressive winning streak since joining team "Fighting Nerds". He has had a long career in the UFC but as of recent has seemingly turned a corner to put together a nice win streak.
The Russian has put together back to back knockouts to start a rise up the rankings. He draws another favorable match up here with Andre – Barriault who will more then likely give Oleksiejczuk the fight he wants.
Marc Andre – Barriault is unfortunately on the back end of his career and his chin may just be going with the age. The canadian has lost 4 of his last 5 fights with 2 coming by way of knock out.
This could very well be his last fight in the organization due to hisrun. Will Oleksiejczuk take advantage of the brawl and land another brutal knock out?
Michal Oleksiejczuk vs Marc Andre – Barriault Odds:
- Moneyline: Michal Oleksiejczuk (-500) vs Marc Andre – Barriault (+375)
- Round Total: 1.5 Total Rounds – Over (+148) / Under (-168)
- Most Likely Method Of Victory: Michal Oleksiejczuk By KO/TKO (-200)
Jean Matsumoto vs Farid Basharat Preview – Bantamweight

Banger Match Up Of Top Prospects
Top prospects will face off on the main card in a banger of a match up. Jean Matsumoto will look to climb the rankings when he takes on rising contender Farid Basharat.
Matsumoto bounced back from the first loss of his career loss in his last bout with a split decision loss to Miles Johns. The fight was razor close and Matsumoto did show some improvements in areas but unfortunately still slowed down in the later rounds.
A great striker with a BJJ background, the cardio seems to be the main issue for the prospect. He has a tough task against relentless wrestler Farid Basharat.
Basharat has been red hot since joining the UFC with 5 straight wins. The prospect has quickly shot up the rankings with some impressive performances despite only finishing 1 of those wins.
In most fights Basharat puts on a relentless grappling pace, chaining takedowns with great control. He has shown he can hang in the striking department as well, along with routinely going to decision proving he can fight for 15 minutes.
This will be a great test for Matsumoto and a great opportunity for Basharat to shoot up the rankings further. It will be interesting to see which prospect will prevail tonight.
Jean Matsumoto vs Farid Basharat Odds:
- Moneyline: Jean Matsumoto (+250) vs Farid Basharat (-300)
- Round Total: 2.5 Total Rounds – Over (-400) / Under (+316)
- Most Likely Method Of Victory: Farid Basharat By Points (-155)
Dustin Jacoby vs Julius Walker Preview – Light Heavyweight

Dustin Jacoby and Julius Walker
Dustin Jacoby will look to continue his career resurgance Saturday night when he takes on prospect Julius Walker. The UFC veteran Kickboxer has shaken back from 2 straight losses to produce 2 straight wins himself, both coming by KO.
The long time kickboxer is now 37 years old and has not lost a step at Light heavyweight. He has shown great takedown defense throughout his career and routinely shown his cardio to be able to go 15 minutes.
Jacoby is very technical as well despite holding big power in his hands. There is no doubt he will provide a big test for Julius Walker who is just coming off his first UFC victory.
Walker dominated Rafael Cerqueira en route to a victory. There was one problem with the performance though, he was the only fighter to not finish Cerqueira in his 3 fight tenure.
In the bout Walker used his wrestling & control to dominate but was unable to find any finishing blows. This could be a real problem against a Vet savy fighter who knows what to do to secure points on the judges scorecards.
Dustin Jacoby vs Julius Walker Odds:
- Moneyline: Dustin Jacoby (-164) vs Julius Walker (+144)
- Round Total: 2.5 Total Rounds – Over (+110) / Under (-130)
- Most Likely Method Of Victory: Dustin Jacoby By KO (+135)
