With 20 teams competing through group play and a single-elimination bracket, the tournament's format leaves plenty of room for surprises, which also creates some interesting betting opportunities.

Below is a look at the odds for tournament winner, group winners and MVP for this year's WBC.

World Baseball Classic 2026 Tournament Winner Odds

Despite falling to Japan in the previous World Baseball Classic, the United States enters this tournament as the favorite at -115. While the U.S. may have the most talented roster on paper, it's still a steep price to lay in a tournament setting where unfamiliar coaching strategies, varying stadium environments and baseball's inherent volatility can all come into play.

Best Bets for the World Baseball Classic

Vlad

Tournament Winner: Dominican Republic (+365)

While the United States may have the most talented roster in the tournament, odds of -115 are far from appealing from a betting standpoint. And while Japan has been the most dominant country in World Baseball Classic history, I'm not fully convinced that dominance carries over again this time around.

Instead, I'd look to take a flier on the Dominican Republic at +365. Their roster is loaded with star power and offers a far better price than either the United States or Japan.

Headlined by players such as Juan Soto, Julio Rodriguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Oneil Cruz, this lineup has the potential to overwhelm opposing pitching throughout the tournament.

Albert Pujols will also be making his managerial debut. As a winning former player, he should have no issue instilling the mindset of what it takes to be a successful baseball team.

Outside of having to get past the United States and Japan, the biggest question for this roster will likely be the pitching staff. There are some solid pieces, but not necessarily anyone who currently profiles as truly dominant. Southpaw Cristopher Sanchez may be in the best form of the group right now, though perhaps Sandy Alcantara can return to his former dominance while Brayan Bello and Luis Severino provide some consistency.

Tournament MVP: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+2000)

Well, if I'm riding with the Dominican Republic to win this thing outright, we might as well sweat out one of their premier players to take home some additional hardware.

The power, tenacity and leadership that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. brings to this team cannot be overstated. With the type of production he can provide in the heart of the lineup, especially in clutch moments, he'll have plenty of opportunities to put together a strong tournament.

If the Dominican Republic finds itself playing deep into the bracket and ultimately competing for the title, it wouldn't be surprising to see Vladdy right in the middle of it all – and potentially walking away as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
