Cardinals vs. Giants: Monday night baseball may not always deliver a stacked slate, but even on a light schedule there are edges to be found. The spotlight game tonight comes out west, where the San Francisco Giants welcome the St. Louis Cardinals in what feels like a must-win stretch for the home side.
The Giants sit just three games back in the National League Wild Card race, chasing both the Mets and Reds for the final postseason spot. Every at-bat, every swing, and every moment matters at this stage of the season. That is where one big bat comes into play-Rafael Devers, a proven run producer and a hitter with elite trends backing him in this matchup. Add in a vulnerable Cardinals starter, and the stage is set for fireworks by the bay.
Below, I break down why Devers headlines my card and how I am attacking this thin Monday slate.

The third and final game of this small, tiny, sad Monday night slate the MLB has thrown together to kick off the week. Cardinals and Giants, over in San Francisco, where the Giants are clawing at whatever they can to possibly make a Wild Card spot. As of this writing, they are three games back of the Mets and Reds, who are both tied for the third spot in the NL Wild Card race.
I will be leaning on the lone elite rated hitter on Batters-Box's website to help propel the Giants to a Monday night victory, that being former Red Sox slugger Rafael Devers. The man was brought in for situations like this. A big bat that drives in runs.
The slugger has strong elite rated trends. In 52 elite ratings this season, he has recorded a hit 65% of the time, gone over this prop 48%, and left the yard 27%. In 24 elite ratings at home, he records two hits 33% of the time, goes over this prop 50%, and hits a home run 33% of the time.
Yes, I have sprinkled on the +417 home run as well for a little extra fun this evening.
The Giants slugger takes on Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy, who has the lowest matchup strikeout percentage on the day. The right hander has struggled against left handed hitters over his last few games. The last 30 he has faced own a .382 xBA and .568 xSLG, while making 46% hard contact.
Bonus Play
In another article I wrote about Braves slugger Matt Olson going over his bases prop this evening. I also added to my card one of my infamous "Silly Goose Parlays," which includes both Olson and Rafael Devers to record a hit at +110. That is a great price for two hitters in strong spots tonight. I love the value on both guys simply to come through with a hit.
This Monday night slate may be small, but it still provides opportunity. The Giants are fighting for every inch of Wild Card hope, and Rafael Devers has the exact profile to deliver in this spot. His elite ratings, power numbers, and favorable matchup against McGreevy all point toward impact moments in a game San Francisco desperately needs. Add in the bonus value with Matt Olson, and we have a night with strong chances to cash. Devers to hit, Olson to connect, and the Giants to grind-this is the path to making a slow Monday feel plenty exciting.
