After two one-run losses that put a slight damper on what had been a positive start to the 2026 MLB season, the Atlanta Braves will look to rebound tonight vs. the Anaheim Angels.
Atlanta (6-4) won the first two games of its series at Arizona and was on course for a third straight series win to start the season. However, they fell by a run on both Saturday and Sunday, including a 10-inning loss in yesterday's series finale.
The weekend went the opposite way for the Angels (5-5), who took two of three at home against the Seattle Mariners courtesy of two one-run triumphs. After falling 3-1 in Friday's series opener, the Angels rode three highlight-reel home run robberies by Jo Adell to a 1-0 win on Saturday, then walked off with a series win an 8-7, 11-inning victory on Sunday.
In tonight's Braves vs. Angels matchup, starting hurlers Chris Sale and Jose Soriano will both look to continue early excellence. Sale allowed just one run in his first two starts, while Soriano has yet to allow a run.
Are we in store for a low-scoring pitchers' duel at Angel Stadium? At Lucky Rebel and other top online sportsbooks, the total is set at 7.5, while Atlanta is favored to pick up its seventh win of the season.
Braves vs. Angels TLDR
Atlanta's bats did not flourish in the last two games against Arizona but look for a better performance tonight against Jose Soriano and the Angels.

Braves vs. Angels Prediction and Analysis
Last season, Soriano set numerous career highs across the board, but his ERA, WHIP, and K/BB ratio were all higher than in 2024, when he posted a respectable 3.42 ERA in 113 innings across 22 appearances (20 starts).
He's had numerous decent stretches in his two-plus seasons as a starter, but is this where he takes the step to become a consistent performer?
After tossing six shutout innings in a win at Houston on Opening Day, the 27-year-old tossed another six scoreless frames at Wrigley Field in a win over the Cubs last Tuesday.
However, free passes may still be an issue for Soriano, who has allowed two or more walks in 39 of 53 career starts. That will be something to watch for tonight's Braves vs. Angels. He allowed four against the Astros and two against the Cubs, but he bailed himself out by allowing only two hits in each outing.
Control questions will come into focus even more tonight given that Soriano has historically been worse at home than on the road.
At home, he has a 5-14 record with a 4.84 ERA, and a 1.47 WHIP in 44 appearances (24 starts). On the road, he is 14-7 with a 2.96 ERA and a 1.18 ERA in 49 appearances (29 starts).
The Braves laid an egg with runners in scoring position in the last two games against the Diamondbacks, going a combined 3 of 20. However, they hit .311 with runners in scoring position in their first eight games, and against a starter who has historically had a hard time at home, you should like their chances of stringing some hits together and putting some runs on the board. Look for a solid offensive night and another good start for Sale to lead Atlanta to the win.
