Liberty vs Aces Game 3 Predictions & WNBA Picks Today (10/4)

After opening the WNBA semifinals with a win, the Liberty took a 2-0 series advantage with an 88-84 victory over the Aces in Game 2. New York's Sabrina Ionescu had a night to remember as she led her team in both points (24) and rebounds (9) in 37 minutes of action.

Even though the Liberty only shot the ball 31.0% from deep (compared to the Aces' 44.4%), they still managed to find a way to hold on to the crucial victory. It certainly helped that New York was the better team from the charity strip, going 13-of-16 (81.3%) on its free-throw attempts while Las Vegas struggled in that area, finishing with a 63.2% clip. Had the Aces been more accurate, we could be looking at a tied series.

Nevertheless, it's struggling to stop the Liberty's offense has been a trend for the Aces. Between the 2024 WNBA regular season and playoffs, New York is 5-0 SU while averaging 83.8 points and a plus-7.6 scoring margin in five encounters with Las Vegas.

Liberty G Sabrina Ionescu has had her way with the Aces in this WNBA playoff series. 

While Game 2 was closer than the series opener, I'm still going with the Liberty tonight. A return home should, in theory, help the Aces, but that might not be the case given that the Liberty went 2-0 SU at Michelob ULTRA Arena during the regular season.

With that in mind, I also recommend backing the Aces to score under 84.5 total points tonight. As good as the Aces are, they've been held to 84 or fewer points in each of their last four postseason games, as well as in all five encounters against the Liberty this season.

Until we see some changes on the counter, let's err on the side of caution when it comes to the defending WNBA Champions.
