Chicago Sky Atlanta Dream WNBA prediction odds picks 8/18/23

There are many important games on the calendar from now to September 10, which is the last day of the WNBA regular season. One such game is tonight in the Peach State, where the Atlanta Dream will play host to the Chicago Sky (7:30 pm ET, ION).

Both teams enter tonight’s matchup having lost three in a row, but the Sky (12-18, 7-8 away) find themselves in a more perilous position than the Dream (15-16, 8-6 home).

Even with their recent struggles, the Dream are still in fifth in the WNBA standings, just a game and a half behind the Dallas Wings (16-14).

The Sky, meanwhile, are holding on to the eighth and final playoff spot thanks to owning the head-to-head tiebreaker against the Los Angeles Sparks, who are also 12-18.

So, a win tonight would be big for either team. Based on the odds, there isn’t much between Chicago and Atlanta, but the home team has a slight edge. Do the odds have it spot on?

Atlanta Aiming to Secure Season Sweep

Chicago Sky Atlanta Dream odds prediction picks 8/18/23

For the Sky, the cycle continues as it has all season. If the ups outweighed the downs, some ups and downs would be a bit more acceptable. But that isn’t the case for Chicago.

Of their 12 wins, ten have come in clusters, two twos and two threes.

Of their 18 losses, most have come in more and more severe clusters. There have been two two-game clusters and one three-game skid, but there have also been losing streaks of four and six games.

The current one includes losses to the Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty, and Washington Mystics. After scoring 104 points in winning three consecutive games, the Sky have scored fewer than 80 points in losing three consecutive games.

Scoring enough to keep up is also an issue for the Dream at present. They have scored 67, 74, and 65 points in their losing streak, and have scored fewer than 80 points eight times in losing eight of their last 11 games.

But they enter tonight’s game with

The Dream have won each of their first three head-to-head meetings with the Sky. All three wins have come by double digits, and all three wins have come by double digits.

Things haven’t been great for the Dream over the last month, but one thing continues to go their way. Since losing five of their first six home games this season, Atlanta has lost only once in eight home games, an 86-78 loss to the Connecticut Sun on July 22.

Also, for the season, the Dream are 8-1 this season against teams that currently are under .500. All eight of those wins have come by five or more points, and all 15 of their wins this season have come by four or more points.
