This afternoon, we were entertained with the UEFA Champions League Final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. But tonight on FS1, the Concacaf Champions Cup Final also takes place in Mexico, as two Liga MX sides go head to head. Toluca FC is coming off winning the league in the Fall of 2025, but finished fifth on the table this season. They face Tigres UANL, who lost in the title match to Toluca, but finished seventh during the current season. Let's find out who might win as we dive into our Champions Cup Final picks!

Last fall, these teams played three total matches. Tigres UANL beat Toluca on the road by a score of 4-3 back in July, early on in the Apetura season. They met in the two leg final as well. Tigres UANL won the first leg 1-0, but Toluca won the second leg 2-1 at home. Thus we went to penalty kicks, where Toluca were victorious, 9-8, to secure the Liga MX Title.

In the spring season, they played to a scoreless draw in January. Tigres is clearly holding a grudge after losing in the league finale last year, and now could enact some revenge by winning the Concacaf Champions Cup. For the fourth straight season, a Liga MX side will be lifting the Champions Cup.

After three runner up finishes in 2016, 2017 and 2019, Tigres UANL secured their first and only title in 2020. Toluca won back in 1968 and again in 2003, but since then, they have been the runner ups twice, in 2006 and 2014, along with a second place finish in 1998. Can Tigres capture their second title in just six years? Or will Toluca win their first in over two decades?

We are going with Toluca to make history and win their third ever Champions Cup. They had to go through San Diego FC and LAFC during this competition, and just got knocked out of their postseason tournament. This is all they have to play for. Now, Tigres are in the same boat, having lost to Guadalajara in the postseason. But I simply think Toluca is the more talented squad.

Playing at home is also an advantage, as they lost at home just once this season (unfortunately for them, it was in the postseason). In their contest early on this year, Toluca dominated the offense, securing four of their 12 shots on frame while earning three corner kicks and controlling over half of the possession. The hosts mustered up just two of their seven shot attempts on frame.

Toluca is not used to losing, and I see them taking down Tigres in this Cup Final.

Prediction: Toluca Wins 1-0 (+650)
