MLS Best Bets: Sides and Props for Saturday Soccer

We're back with tons of Saturday Soccer action, and even a couple games tomorrow as well.

After looking through the entire pitch slate, we've come up with our best bets for this weekend's action!

So let's get right into it!

MLS Weekend Best Bets

Over the course of the MLS season, here's how we've done betting:

• +1.27 units

After an 0-2-1 day on Wednesday, we are looking to bounce back. Hunting out plus money picks has helped us this soccer season, and we're not changing anything this late.

Let's take a look at some picks!

Vancouver Whitecaps @ New York City FC

Matchup Information

• Venue & Location: Yankee Stadium (NYC, NY)
• Date: Saturday, September 2nd, 2023
• Kick Off: 3:30pm Eastern

The Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps Draw No Bet (+178) Bovada

Bonus Pick: NYCFC/Vancouver Draw (+275) Bovada

I've split this unit up, risking a half unit on each of these, and as the math comes out, I'll technically be rooting for a draw.

A draw would offer the bigger payout, plus we would walk away with a win and a push, instead of a win and a loss if Vancouver were to win outright.

Regardless, I think Vancouver wins this game, but NYCFC is a tough opponent at home, especially coming off a shutout win on Wednesday.

However Vancouver is much tougher than Montreal.

The Whitecaps have won two straight games in MLS play, and 4 of their L5 in regular season play.

They sit in 5th in the West, and 3 points puts them in a tie for 2nd. Playoff seeding is coming into play, and these guys need every point they can get.

Vancouver has also win 3 of their L4 road games, outscoring opponents this year 42-35 in 25 games.

NYCFC lost 3 straight in MLS play prior to Wednesday's win, and hadn't won an MLS match in 5 contests.

I think the Whitecaps overpower them tonight, but perhaps they draw and we profit big.

Charlotte FC @ Nashville SC

Matchup Information

• Venue & Location: GEODIS Park (Nashville, TN)
• Date: Saturday, September 2nd, 2023
• Kick Off: 8:30pm Eastern

The Pick: Nashville to Keep a Clean Sheet (+147) Bovada

We don't necessarily need Nashville to win in this scenario, a nil-nil draw is still a winner, but for those who want to get even cheekier, Nashville shutout win is +200.

They already beat this team 2-1 in Charlotte, and Nashville is a different animal in GEODIS Park.

Nashville is 8-2-2 at GEODIS Park in MLS play this year. They outscore opponents 21-8, and have kept 5 clean sheets at home.

Tonight I think they shutout Charlotte and squeak away a 1-0 win late in the game.

Minnesota United @ San Jose Earthquakes

Matchup Information

• Venue & Location: PayPal Park (San Jose, CA)
• Date: Saturday, September 2nd, 2023
• Kick Off: 10:30pm Eastern

The Pick: SJ/MINN 1H Over 1.5 (+150) Bovada

This one is super cheeky and more or less just for a fun sweat, but these teams have been scoring and conceding goals early this season.

On Wednesday Night, San Jose and the LA Galaxy score 5 total goals, 3 of which happened before 45 minutes of play. The game prior to that for the Earthquakes, 2 of the 3 total goals in that game were score by halftime, and prior to that, the lone goal in their game against Vancouver happened in the 1st half.

For Minnesota United, they played Colorado on Wednesday night and won 3-0. All three of their goals were scored before the ref blew his first whistle. The game before Minnesota saw 1 of the 2 total goals netted before halftime.

Do you get the idea?

These teams are battling each other and others for playoff seeding, and both want this game badly. I lean slightly with San Jose at home coming off a loss, but Minnesota won't go down without a fight, and I think we see 2 goals before halftime.
