France vs Brazil, 2023 Women's World Cup: Prediction cover

soccer

France and Brazil face off in the second game of Group Stage for Group F. This will likely be the game to decide the group, as Panama and Jamaica are the other two teams.

Now, France and Jamaica tied nil-nil their first match, but the French rightfully dominated possession and attempts on goal.

Brazil beat up on Panama 4-0 to secure three points in their first match of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Tomorrow they can essentially clinch the group with a win.

Will they be able to? Or will France prove why they were the favorite to win Group F?

France vs Brazil Game Information

Since 2016, these teams have squared off four separate times, twice in friendlies, and once in the 2019 Women’s World Cup Round of 16.

Brazil has never netted more than two goals against France, and they’ve also never beaten them.

In the 2019 World Cup, France won 2-1 after a goal in extra time to seal the deal.

In their most previous meeting in the 2022, French Tournoi de France, the French won 2-1 in 90 minutes.

Let’s breakdown tonight’s game!

France vs Brazil Prediction

France Brazil 2023 Women's World Cup Prediction

Based off of their first group stage games, I side heavily with Brazil in this one.

Their offense was one of the most prolific looking in the first match, producing 33 total attempts, 9 of them on target and netting four goals.

They also controlled 61% of the possession, which can lead to a better chance at scoring on the attack.

Obviously France is a much tougher animal, currently ranked 5th in the FIFA World Rankings, but this Brazilian team is hungry for a title.

They finished as runner-ups in 2007, and have made it to the knockout stage every year since 1999. But they their magic seems to fall apart.

France finished 4th in 2011, and have made the quarterfinals the past two World Cup competitions, but have yet to make it to the Final Match.

I think Brazil is simply more talented and definitely more experienced with vertans Marta and Debinha leading the attack.

Debinha is the next stud for this Brazillian squad.

She plays for the Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Soccer League, and she was just voted Best FIFA Women’s Player for the year 2022.

So far this season, she 9 goals and 1 assist in 15 games, including a goal in her last two games before leaving for International Break.

The 31 year old only played 59 minutes in the first matchup in order to conserve some energy for this one tonight that is clearly the game to decide the group.
