Rangers vs. Lightning Game 6 Odds and Prediction: Lightning the Bet at Home cover

nhl

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the New York Rangers on Saturday with the chance to advance and appear in their 3rd straight Stanley Cup Final.

In Game 5, the Rangers lost only their second game at home during this postseason. It was a costly one, as now they are down 3-2 in a series against the two-time defending champs.

Now this series will shift back to Tampa Bay for the final time. It's do or die for the Rangers, but they have been in this position before. In Round 1, they trailed the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 and then proceeded to rattle off 3 straight victories, including a Game 7 overtime winner.

In their second round series, New York also trailed 3-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes. They have a knack for winning elimination games, but this will be their toughest test yet.

After 3 straight victories, the Lightning are still on top of the betting odds. They are heavier favorites than usual in Game 6, as they play at home on a 3 game winning streak.

Tampa's Dominant Defensive Presence

The Lightning have done well over their last three games. They have held the Rangers to 4 goals, and even pulled out a road win against the hottest home team in the NHL playoffs.

It all starts with solid goaltending, and Andrei Vasilevskiy has had more than enough help to keep the Rangers subdued as of late. Vasilevskiy has only allowed 13 goals in the series, but half of those came in Game 1 when the Rangers hung 6 on the board.

The Lighting blosked 14 shots in Game 4, which is an ongoing trend to their style of play. They are constantly blocking the shooting lanes, and the Rangers are getting no chances at the net.

If everything continues as it has through the first 5 games, expect Tampa to advance and face the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final. However, if New York can make the changes on the fly and adjust to the Tampa defense, we could see a Game 7 back at Madison Square Garden.

Rangers vs. Lightning Prediction and Best Bets

Rangers vs. Lightning Prediction: Lightning 4, Rangers 2

Rangers vs. Lightning Best Bets: Lightning -1.5 (+150 at Bovada Sportsbook)

The Lightning have been hot over their last three games. They have proven to be legit contenders again this season, and they have a chance to clinch.the Eastern Conference Final on home ice.

I expect the Rangers to attack early, but look for the Tampa defense to step up in a big way and protect their goalie. The Lightning puck line presents the greatest value out of any of the bets. If you are confident in the Lightning, take them to win by 2. The payout will reward you, and you will not want to miss out on an opportunity.
