The Dallas Stars head east tonight to take on the New York Rangers in Madison Square Garden. This is the 2nd time these 2 teams meet this year and the Rangers won the 1st game 3-1.

Dallas comes into this game on a 4-game winning streak, after beating Utah HC Saturday night. They are 24-13-1 this season and 1st in the Central Division. The Stars are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games but are only 8-8-0 on the road, so this could be a good spot to get another road win.

There is no shortage of offense on this team. Dallas is 10th in the league for goals scored and 3rd in the league for shots on goal per game. They need to put up a good number of shots to make up for their poor shooting, which is 21st in the league.

Defense is where they shine. They are 1st for goals allowed and 4th for shots on goal allowed per game. To go along with that, they have the best penalty kill in this league and play smart hockey, committing the 6th least in the league.

Goalie Jake Oettinger is expected in net tonight. He is 19-9-1 this season with a 2.35 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Oetty has been lights out to say the least and will look to avenge his loss earlier this season.

New York needs to get it together before it's too late

It hasn't been paradise in Manhattan. The Rangers are 18-20-1 so far and 7th in the Metro Division. This comes as a big shock to many as they made the Eastern Conference Finals last season.

New York comes into this game off a much-needed win over the Blackhawks on Sunday night. Despite the win, they are 3-7-0 in their last 10 games and are also only 8-9-1 at home. The fact that Dallas isn't very good on the road helps them out.

This team has been firing the puck but not hitting the net as much as they'd like. Their offense has been nowhere to be found, only averaging 2.9 goals per game. They Rangers are averaging 30 shots a game, but what's the point when none go in or hit the net?

Unfortunately, they're not much better on defense. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. Goalie Jonathan Quick is expected to get the start. Quick is 6-5-0 this season with a 2.83 GAA and a .903 save percentage.

Now, I do think the Stars win this game, but the moneyline is too juiced for me. Last time we took the puck line, it didn't end well, so we're going the game total.

With the goalies we're seeing along with 1 team who has an anemic offense, the total for under 6.5 goals is blowing kisses at me. I think the Stars definitely score around 3-4 goals this game, but the Rangers should only get 2 at best with Oetty in net.

Back to a point before, we have a good goalie in net for Dallas vs a team who fires the puck, so we're taking Oettinger over saves. The line should come out around 28 once he is confirmed, probably valued at -120. I think the Rangers do put puck on net, so his saves is a nice spot.
