What a season it has been and it's coming to a close. The San Jose Sharks will take on the Nashville Predators tonight with playoff implications. These two teams last played just over a week ago, and the Predators won 6-3.
Nashville is 38-32-10 this season and fifth in the Central Division. They come into this game off a win over the Wild on Saturday. The Predators are 5-4-1 in their last ten games and 21-15-3 at home this year.
The Predators made a huge comeback this season and find themselves one point out of the playoffs. They're currently one point behind the Kings for the second wild card spot. Being in the Central, that second wild card spot is going to be their only chance to get in.
Offense is really just mediocre on this team even with the talent they have. They rank eighteenth in both goals scored and shots on goal per game. On defense, they're in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game.
Goalie Juuse Saros is expected to get the start. He is 28-21-8 this season with a 3.13 GAA and a .894 save percentage. Saros is going to have to bring his A game vs. this crafty Sharks team if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.

San Jose may be too late to get into the playoffs but aren't out yet

Sharks forward William Eklund moves the puck around the back of the offensive zone.
The Sharks are 37-34-8 this year and fifth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game on a three-game losing streak after another loss to the Canucks on Saturday in a shootout. San Jose is 5-3-2 in their last ten games and 16-20-2 on the road.
It's been a rough patch for the Sharks and at the wrong time for them. Kind of like my team, the Islanders, the Sharks went on a terrible losing streak down the stretch at the wrong time. They dropped six straight before winning their next four but did the damage.
They really need to win out and the Kings to lose their last three games to make the playoffs. Although it is mathematically possible, I just don't see it happening. Unfortunate ending to a special season that shows some real potential ahead.
Macklin Celebrini has put on a Hart Trophy worthy season. This kid is only 19 years old and in his second season. He is the heart and soul of this team that will now attract real talent to play with him and build a future. Let's check out the odds and get into the Sharks vs. Predators picks.

San Jose is going to come out flying. I think they take the lead early and don't look back for my lean, but they're not going to play back. The last time these two teams played, it was an absolute barn burner and with both needing this game – I think we see it again.
Neither goalie is that spectacular that I think either offense has trouble. Saros has been very questionable after having a few very good seasons and Nedeljkovic is mediocre at best. Nashville's offense, when clicking, can really pound the net as well and score the puck.
Give me Macklin Celebrini everything. I love this kid and this is one of his last games to put the cherry on top of a fantastic season. I'll be taking his 4 or more shots on goal, his anytime goal and also his 2 or more points. I'm going to miss watching this kid play.
