We head to the west coast to round out this Wednesday slate. The San Jose Sharks head to Denver to take on the Colorado Avalanche. These two teams met at the end of November and the Avalanche crushed by a final score of 6-0.
Colorado is 36-9-9 this season and first in the Central Division. They come into this game off a shutout loss to the Red Wings on Monday. The Avalanche are 3-5-2 in their last ten games and 20-3-4 at home this season.
They finally came back down to earth a bit after that hot start. It's ok though, they were due for it. Colorado is the best team in the league still and on offense, they're just that – the best. They rank first in goals scored and shots on goal per game. Surprisingly, they have one of the worst power plays in the league.
Defense is really good on this team. They rank the best in goals allowed per game and have the second-best penalty kill in the league. The Avalanche play smart hockey, ranking third best for penalties committed per game.
Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to get the start. He is 15-5-1 this season with a 2.09 GAA and .916 save percentage. Blackwood has the fourth best GAA and save percentage in the league.

San Jose will try to keep clawing their way to a playoff spot

San Jose Sharks goaltender Yaroslav Askarov makes a save on a shot by Colorado Avalanche center Parker Kelly.
The Sharks are 27-23-4 this year and are sixth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game on a three-game losing streak after a bad loss to the Blackhawks on Monday. San Jose is 4-5-1 in their last ten games and 13-14-1 on the road.
Second year star Macklin Celebrini continues to shine. He's coming off a 1 goal and 1 assist game with 5 shots on goal. That makes 28 goals and 53 assists on the year, which both lead the team, and he ranks fourth in points in the league. Kids having himself a year.
On paper, they really don't look good. They rank seventeenth for goals scored and fourth worst in the league for shots on goal per game. Although they don't shoot much, they shoot well having the sixth best shooting percentage.
Defense is the problem and they need to be careful in a game like this. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. The Sharks commit about four penalties per game and only kill of 78% of them.
In net, we're expected to see Alex Nedeljkovic. He is 10-9-2 this season with a 2.72 GAA and a .899 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Sharks vs. Avalanche picks.

I think we see goals in this game. Colorado almost broke this one their own last game and the Sharks should get on the board this game. Both offenses have a lot of talent and we should see them both flying around doing damage.
The Sharks are playing much better than two months ago. Celebrini should be able to get them on the board. I don't know how many times because the Avs defense is good, but they will get passed Blackwood. Colorado will do the rest on their own.
Give me Macklin Celebrini to do this thing. I like him for 4 or more shots on goal after coming off back-to-back games with 5 and we'll going to ride his 2 or more points for plus money. This kid is the core of this team and will be the one pressing the Avs defense.
Like usual, I like for a goal to get lit up and it's Nedeljkovic. Colorado should put up way over 30 shots with the way San Jose allows shots. The line should drop around 28-30, but this is going to clear with ease.
