The 2nd round is upon us after a killer 1st round. The Edmonton Oilers will take on the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2nd round. Vegas had the better seeding and will have home ice advantage throughout the series.

During the regular season, the Knights were the best team in the Pacific Division and one of the best in the Western Conference overall. Vegas dealt the Minnesota Wild in the 1st round and handled business as expected.

Minnesota put up a good fight. Both teams were able to win on the road, but the Knights proved to be the better team. The Wild even beat the Knights 5-2 in the 2 games they won in the series.

This Vegas team has had contributions from all around. Jack Eichel started off slow against the Wild but then got right into form with 17 shots on goal over the last 4 games. He also had 5 points over the last 3 games, including 2 points in each of the last 2 games.

Goaltender Aiden Hill is expected to get the start. He had a 30+ wins this regular season and won all 4 games in the 1st round. Hill had a 2.83 GAA and .880 save percentage in those 6 games and will look to keep the winning going tonight.

Don't forget who represented the West last year in the finals because they're still here. Edmonton somewhat surprised everyone with how easy they handled the Kings. They did the most important thing to winning a playoff series and that's win a road game.

Edmonton went down 2-0 right away in the series. They went back home and tied the series at 2. Then they went on the road and stole Game 5 in LA to then finish the series at home the next game. It's showing they have clicked it in gear and things are coming together.

Per usual, Connor McDavid led the way for this team. He recorded 9 assists and 11 points in total vs the Kings. Evan Bouchard surprisingly leads the team with 4 goals, which shows how everyone's been contributing. Defenseman Jake Walman almost leads the playoffs with a plus minus of 8.

The first game is always important to set the tone. Having home ice advantage can play a huge factor in that and for the rest of the series. We're taking the Knights in Game 1 at home for -138. I think they get off to the right foot and take game 1 at home.

These 2 teams split the season series 2-2, so they can compete. I just can't go against one of the best and most slept on team this season. Everyone is also high on Edmonton because of how they handled LA, but new battle now. Pickard has played great for the Oilers, but he was extremely leaky, allowing 4 goals in multiple games.

Defense is what will be the difference maker here. Pickard can allow 4 goals in a game if he wants, but his offense will have a much harder time scoring than last series. Hill had a 2.25 GAA in the 4 wins from last series, so he has some good help.

I really like Jack Eichel here. This kid led this team the year they won the cup in 2023 and really kicked it into gear the last 4 games, which I expect to continue. His 4 or more shots on goal is +125 and use the correct book so overtime is included in the shot count.
