Great matchup tonight in Canada to wrap up today's slate. The Tampa Bay Lightning will play the Edmonton Oilers. These two teams played early in the season and the Lightning won the game 2-1 in overtime.
Tampa Bay is 42-21-4 this season and second in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game on a two-game winning streak after a win over Vancouver on Thursday. The Lightning are 4-6-0 in their last ten games and 22-9-4 on the road.
The offense has been electric on this team. Last year after Steven Stamkos left, I don't think anyone knew how this team would come together, but they did very nicely. They rank second in the league for goals scored per game and have the third best shooting percentage as well.
Same great stuff on defense, ranking third best for goals allowed and in the top ten for shots on goal allowed and penalty kill. Surprisingly, they don't play smart hockey, committing the most penalties per game in the league.
Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to get the start. He is 32-12-3 this season with a 2.26 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Vasi is currently the favorite to win the Vezina Trophy this season.

Edmonton looks to bounce back after being blanked by Florida

Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Matt Savoie make their way around the back of the net.
The Oilers are 34-27-9 this year and currently second in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a bad loss to the Panthers on Thursday. Edmonton is 5-4-1 in their last ten games and 18-12-4 at home this season.
It's a tight race in the Pacific as well. Seeds first through sixth are separated by only 4 games. The Oilers are currently one point behind the Ducks for first and one point ahead of the Knights for second. There is no room for error right now even with a handful of games to play.
Losing star Leon Draisaitl is going to hurt. They were shutout in their first game without him, but I think that was just a coincidence. It is a huge hole to fill with Draisaitl out, so guys like Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins need to set up.
In net, we're expected to see Connor Ingram. He is 11-7-2 this season with a 2.52 GAA and a .892 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Lightning vs. Oilers picks.

My guts feeling goals here too. Edmonton is going to have a little tougher of a time going up against Vasi and no Draisaitl. They should still find the back of the net one or two times. Now with Tampa facing Ingram, that's a whole different story.
I think the Lightning each Ingram alive. They're so fast and talented going up against a guy who hasn't played much this season. Tampa's going to pepper the net and put in at least five goals. I think they can cover the puck line as well.
Give me Nikita Kucherov to get 2 or more points. Let's be real, this offense is centered around him and to win this game, he needs to be involved. I expect him to be firing the puck, and we all know he can dish the puck like no other, especially on the power play.
