We got another banger in Game 3 of this series. The Montreal Canadiens won the game to take a 2-1 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was an electric finish to an overtime game with a game winning blast from Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson.
This game was all Montreal. They outshot the Lightning 28-17 in regulation but need to get their power play going. Between the shots and going 0-4 on the power play, this game could've ended much differently. Tampa owes more to goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy now.
The game started out with a goal from Montreal about five minutes into the first period. The goal came from forward Alexandre Texier off a beautiful pass from Zach Bolduc. It set the tone for the home team until Brayden Point scored a power play goal for Tampa just two and half minutes later.
In the second, the Lightning wasted no time and took a 2-1 lead after a goal from Bradon Hagel. It took until almost thirteen minutes into the second for the Habs to tie it up. Forward Kirby Dach got the goal off a crazy shot from the wing that made its way through.
Nothing happened in the third period and took us to overtime. Didn't take long or much for Montreal to seal the deal off a big shot from Lane Hutson. Another shot in traffic that made its way past Vasi.

Can Tampa find themselves and tie this series up on the road?

Canadiens forward Josh Andersen takes a breakaway shot on Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.
It was not a good showing for the Lightning in Game 2. Their shot count was down, and their top-notch defense was nowhere to be found. Tampa ranks third in the league for goals allowed and eighth for shots on goal allowed per game. They need to get that shot count under control.
This is a resilient team who has been here before. They're going to make some serious adjustments for Game 4 because they know who critical it is for them to get the win. Going back home down two games could be detrimental.
One thing on their side is they have the best goalie in the league. If Vasi can get a little more help, he can hold this offense off to lead them to a win. Question is – can they make those adjustments? Let's check out the odds and get into the Lightning vs. Canadiens picks.

We should see more of a chess match in this game. Montreal is going to try and play the smartest game they can to not make that mistake. Tampa is going to come out flying and try to strike first. I'm taking experience in this one and I think Tampa ties the series up.
I do think Tampa strikes first in this one. It will give Vasi the confidence he needs knowing he has a lead. Supporting him on offense hasn't been the problem – filling the hole of Victor Hedman on defense has been. Expect Tampa to try and push the envelope with scoring to support that lack of defense.
Give me Nikita Kucherov to continue to be a problem. He may have only had one shot on goal last game, but he had about 8 attempts that were blocked or missed. The volume is there so we're taking his 4 or more shots on goal. I'll be sprinkling his 2 or more points as well.
