A cross-town rivalry tonight between the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils. The Devils were off to a hot start but have lost their last 2 games. New York also comes into the game off a loss.

New Jersey is 5-3-1 and are 2nd in the Metro Division so far this season. They're 2-2-1 at home and are 1-1-1 in divisional games. The Devils are a really good offensive team with a lot of fire power.

Jack Hughes leads this team and offense with Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt. They have a powerhouse of an offense on this team, ranking 9th in goals scored and 11th in shots on goal per game.

Defensively, they're not horrible. I'd say they're middle of the pack. Ranking 16th in goals allowed and 14th in shots on goal allowed per game isn't too shabby. New Jersey also has a good penalty kill where they rank 1oth in the league.

The Islanders are having a rough start to the season. They are just coming off a 1-0 loss vs the Red Wings. What an absolute snooze fest that game was (and I was there).

New York hasn't been playing good hockey either. They've managed 2 wins but have let 2 others slip away and they end up with OTL's.

Bo Horvat, Matt Barzal and Noah Dobson have been leading the team offensively. The Islanders lost newly acquired Anthony Duclair to a leg injury, and he was playing well. He will miss the next 4-6 weeks.

Goalie Ilya Sorokin has made his return and started 3 games, going 1-1-1. He looked good against the Red Wings because he got help from his defense, only allowing 11 shots on goal. The goal he let in was just a beauty by future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane.

We're going to go with the total of under 6.5 goals and pay the juice man a little. There are 2 reasons for this. First, the Islanders can't find the back of the net to save their lives right now. Second, Sorokin has looked despite his record, with a 1.33 GAA.

Devils' goalie Jake Allen has a GAA of 3, but if the Islanders can't score than they'll just be helping bring that number down. One thing that will be key is the Islanders protecting Sorokin again and keeping the shot count down.

The Islander's defense has been insane so far, only allowing 2.5 goals per game, which ranks 5th in the league. They also rank 1st in the league for shots on goal allowed. New York also commits the least number of penalties in the league, so it keeps the clock moving.

Give me Brock Nelson and Anders Lee to both have 3 or more shots on goal. I also like Jack Hughes for 4 or more shots on goal and we're also going to sprinkle his anytime goal. He tends to be an Islander killer.
