We have a matchup in St. Louis between two teams who just made a swap. The New York Islanders will travel in to face the Blues tonight. These two teams last met in November, and the Blues won the game 2-1.
New York is 36-23-5 this season and third in the Metro Division. They come into this game off an overtime win on Saturday vs. the Sharks. The Islanders are 6-4-0 in their last ten games, 9-0-0 in their last nine overtime games and 19-13-3 on the road.
There was just a trade the other day between the two teams that sent the Blues then captain Brayden Schenn to the Isles for Jonathan Drouin, a first round, a third round and a prospect. Schenn brings veteran leadership to the team as well as solid offensive talent. He was also a part of the Blues 2019 Stanley Cup Championship run.
Offense on this team is not very good on paper, but they're making it work. Their defense has been much better, especially in between the pipes. Goaltending has been pretty good with two goalies having sub 2.70 GAAs.
In net, we're expected to see Ilya Sorokin. He is 23-14-2 this season with a 2.49 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Sorokin leads the league with six shutouts on the year.

St. Louis most likely out of a playoff spot at this point of the season

St. Louis Blues players celebrate after scoring a goal on the road this season.
The Blues are 25-29-9 this year and seventh in the Central Division. They come into this game on a four-game winning streak after a big shutout win over the Ducks on Sunday. St. Louis is 6-4-0 in their last ten games and are 14-12-6 at home this season.
As mentioned, the team just parted ways with their captain. The offense ranks in the bottom of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Their power play conversion rate and shooting percentage rank down there as well.
Even though they have Binnington between the pipes, St. Louis has struggled to keep the puck out of the back of the net. They don't allow that many shots on goal but do commit around four penalties per game with a terrible penalty kill.
Goalie Joel Hofer is expected to get the start. He's 16-11-3 this season with a 2.50 GAA and a .903 save percentage. Hofer has five shutouts on the season himself. Let's check out the odds and get into the Islanders vs. Blues picks.

All good things must come to an end as they say. I like for the Islanders to end the Blues winning streak tonight. They have a spark right now plus bringing Schenn back to his old home that he just left adds to it.
The Islanders are the better team overall. This is a good get right spot after an overtime win vs. a team they should've beat outright and two loses prior to that. A solid win is due for them, and this is a great game for it.
I honestly like Schenn to have a great game here. He's going to want to make that crowd proud and they'll be happy for him. Give me him to get 3 or more shots on goal and I'll also be sprinkling his anytime goal.
