There's a packed Saturday slate this weekend. We head to Long Island for the Calgary Flames taking on the New York Islanders. These two teams played back in January, and the Flames won the game 4-2.
New York is 37-24-5 this season and tied for the second seed the Metro Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Kings last night. The Islanders are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and 20-13-3 at home this year.
The Islanders were nowhere to be found for the first half of the game last night. They went down 3-0 in the first period while only getting one in the second period. New York netted and second one in the third but had no luck tying the game.
This team's offense doesn't rank well on paper. They rank twenty first in goals scored and seventeenth in shots on goal per game. Per usual, the Isles power play is terrible and ranks third worst in the league.
Goalie David Rittich will get the start. He is 13-9-3 this season with a 2.68 GAA and a .897 save percentage. Rittich will get the start with Sorokin getting the start yesterday.

Calgary is in full on tank mode being the second worst team in the league

Flames forward Michael Coronato celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal.
The Flames are 26-32-7 this year and seventh in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a win over the Devils on Thursday night. Calgary is 4-5-1 in their last ten games and 10-20-3 on the road.
At this rate, it's time to try for Gavin Mckenna. The Flames are the second worst team in the entire league. They just unloaded their best player in Nazem Kadri to the Colorado Avalanche. Trying to start the rebuild.
They rank last in the league for goals scored per game. For shots on goal, they rank seventeenth, but they rank second to last in shooting percentage. To top it off, they have the second worst power play in the league.
On defense, they don't play smart hockey. They commit almost six penalties per game but at least have the twelfth penalty kill in the league. For goals and shots on goal allowed, they're not going a good job at all.
In net, we're expected to see Dustin Wolf. He is 19-24-3 this season with a 2.83 GAA and a .897 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Flames vs. Islanders picks.

This game should be similar to the last game they played with scoring. I think they clear this over that's still valued good. Calgary loses a step with not Kadri, but they should still get one or two in the net.
The Islanders are due for a bounce after last night's loss and the fact that they went down 3-0 in their last two games but only won one game. It's time for a dominant game where they are the clear winner and at home vs. a weak team is perfect.
Give me Matthew Schaefer to continue to first the puck. I like his 3 or more shots on goal that he has hit in his last three games straight. The kid is now a part of the core of this team and becoming a leader.
