A Western Conference showdown for us tonight in Dallas. The Anaheim Ducks will take on the Stars at the American Airlines Arena. It will be the 1st time these 2 teams meet this season.

Dallas is off to a decent start this season. They have a 11-5-0 record and are currently 3rd in the Central Division. The Stars come into this game on a 3-game winning streak but are 6-4 in their last 10 games.

The Stars have a pretty deep squad. In his 2nd year with the team, Matt Duchene currently leads the team in assists (11) and points (20). Mason Marchment, Tyler Seguin and rookie Logan Stankoven have all been right there with Duchene. Jason Robertson is still trying to find himself this year but will add big time once he does.

Defensively, Dallas is one of the best teams in the league. They're 1st for goals allowed and 5th for shots on goal allowed per game. This team is also great on the penalty kill, ranking 5th in the league with a 85.4% kill rate. Like I said before, this team is stacked all around.

Goaltending has been another bright spot for the Star. Jake Oettinger is 9-3-0 so far with a 2.27 GAA and .917 save percentage. Backup Casey DeSmith is 2-2-0 with a 1.79 GAA and .929 save percentage. DeSmith is expected in net tonight.

Been a rough start for Anaheim, but almost as expected. This team didn't really improve much in the offseason and still have a very young core. The Ducks are off to a 6-8-2 start and are 7th in the Pacific Division. They do come in off a win over the Red Wings Friday night but are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.

Anaheim struggles on offense. They rank almost last in the league for goals scored per game and are in the bottom of the league for shots on goal per game. Their power play and shooting percentages are also very poor.

On defense, it's not much better. The Ducks are in the middle of the league for goals allowed per game but are dead last in the league for shots on goal allowed per game. This will pose a problem against this high-powered Dallas offense.

In goal, we are expected to see Lukas Dostal. He is 4-6-2 so far this season and has a 2.75 GAA with a .922 save percentage. His numbers are horrible in net, but his record shows he could use some help. Let's check out the odds and get into the picks.

Yes, you read that right – we're taking the alternate puckline and going to 2.5. There really isn't much value in the regular puckline and I also think we see a beat down here. This is a perfect game for Dallas to keep rolling and get 4 in a row in front of the home crowd.

The Ducks have no answer for this Stars offense. I expect the Stars to come out and get an early lead right in the 1st period. They're already flying high and should be ready to continue at home. Dostal is going to face a lot of shots – we'll be taking his over saves for this game. It should come out around 27-29 shots, which he should clear easily (as long as he doesn't get pulled!).

I like for Tyler Seguin to record 3+ shots on goal tonight for -135. He has hit his shots in his last 4 out of 5 games, as well as being one of the biggest parts of this offense. Another play I really like for Seguin is to record 1 point for -140. It is almost too juiced, but his hit rate of 83% is almost too good to pass up.
