The We have an Eastern Conference battle tonight between the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both teams made some offseason changes and have a new look. Looks like it's paying off for one team.

The Capitals are off to a hot start with a 5-1-0 record. They're sitting 3rd in the Metro Division and on a 5-game winning streak. Washington is 2-0-0 on the road so far, so they'll look to stay undefeated on the road.

Guys like Dylan Strome have stepped up so far this year with 3 goals and 6 assists, leading the team with 9 points. Connor McMichael is getting comfortable after his 1st full season with 8 points already and believe it or not, Tom Wilson leads the team with 5 goals.

The man himself, Alexander Ovechkin, is on his quest to break Gretzky's all time goal scoring record. He has 2 goals so far this season, so he has a long way to go. The Capitals goalie tandem of Charlie Lindgren and Logan Thompson have been holding it down. Lindgren is expected in net today.

Tampa Bay will look to cool down the red-hot Capitals

The Lightning have been a force to be reckoned with for years now, but this year they look a little different. With the departure of long time captain Steven Stamkos, the Lightning had to bring in some reinforcements.

Jake Guentzel was picked up in the offseason and handed a big contract. He has 2 goals and 5 assists so far to start the season. He on the same line at Kucherov and Point is just scary.

Kucherov is already making a Hart trophy campaign. He has 8 goals and 5 assists to start the season. Kuch has also been hitting his shots on goal at a 60% rate. He is coming off 2 games where he missed, so expect him to be firing tonight.

Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected in net tonight. He's 3-3 so far to start the year and has a 3.13 GAA. It's still very early in the season before making any claims, but Vasi has looked better.

This Washington team is on one right now. I really like the way they've been playing and getting the job done. And one thing to note – it's not all revolving around Ovechkin.

Newcomers Pierre-Luc Dubois and Jacob Chychrun are making themselves at home. Dubois has 5 points and Chychrun has 4 points. Both are opening up opportunities on both ends of the ice for offense and defense.

Tampa is nothing to sneeze at but they're still trying to figure it out. Kucherov has been hot as the sun, so taking his 4+ shots on goal is always a great move. Both these teams have been scoring, so I don't have the over 6.5 goals as well.
