We have a serious matchup tonight out of the Atlantic Division. The Boston Bruins are headed to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Red Wings. These two teams last met back in January and the Bruins won 3-0.
Detroit is 38-23-8 this season and fifth in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game on a two-game winning streak after a huge win over the Canadiens on Thursday. The Wings are 4-4-2 in their last ten games, 20-11-3 at home and 12-7-2 in divisional games.
Their win over the Habs made the playoff picture crazy. They are tied with the Bruins and the Canadiens for third in the division, but with tiebreakers, they fall to fifth. Detroit currently holds the second wild card spot. After tomorrow, one of these three teams will be out of playoff contention.
Great at home this season is the Red Wings and they'll need it tonight. They rank in the middle of the league for things like goals scored and shots on goal per game. Detroit doesn't shoot the puck very well and has an ok power play.
On defense, they fall in the middle of the league as well statistically. Goaltending has them ranking ninth in goals allowed per game. We're expected to see John Gibson in net tonight. He is 26-15-3 this season with a 2.41 GAA and a .907 save percentage.

Boston will try to get the big win to gain an edge on the standings

Wings forward James van Riemsdyk and Bruins forward Pavel Zacha lean in for the faceoff.
The Bruins are 38-23-8 this year and fourth in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a win on Thursday over the Jets by a score of 6-1. Boston is 5-2-3 in their last ten games, 12-14-7 on the road and 9-8-3 in divisional games.
Like I mentioned before, the Bruins are fourth due to tie breakers with the Canadiens, Bruins and Wings all having 84 points. Boston's going to need to get their act together and play good on the road if they want this win.
Their offense isn't terrible, ranking tenth in goals scored per game and having the fifth best shooting percentage in the league. On defense, they allow too many shots and commit too many penalties, which could bury them this game.
In net, we're expected to see Jeremy Swayman. He is 27-14-4 this year with a 2.70 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Bruins vs. Wings picks.

Give me the home team in this one. We're getting solid odds for a team that plays well at home vs. a team who doesn't play well on the road. Detroit has also performed better in divisional matchups and this game is important.
I think the game will go back and forth a little bit. The over is a solid look in this game as both offenses are going to fire over playing a game of chess. This should be a high paced game with a lot of action.
For a prop, I like Alex DeBrincat to get 4 or more shots on goal. He has hit in his last two games and has 9 points in his last five games, including 3 points in each of his last two games. His 2 or more points is definitely a solid move as well.
