We're getting some great matchups down the stretch here as the season winds down. The Boston Bruins will take on the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center. These two teams last met at the end of December and the Sabres won the game 4-1.
Buffalo is 44-20-7 this season and first in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Ducks in overtime on Sunday after a huge third period comeback. The Sabres are 8-1-1 in their last ten games, 22-9-3 at home and 15-4-3 in divisional games.
It's been one heck of a ride for Sabres fans this year. To be leading the division at this time of the year is not something they are used to. They currently hold a four-point lead for first in the division over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Things in the Eastern Conference is super close, and most seeds are all up for grabs. If the season were to end today, these two would meet in the first round, so we could be getting a preview. All I know is if we do and the games go like last one – get your popcorn ready!
Goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is expected to start. He is 17-8-2 this season with a 2.43 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Luukkonen has done well for the Sabres splitting time with fellow goalie Alex Lyon.

Boston has been battling and find themselves tied for third in the Atlantic

Bruins players Charlie McAvoy, David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha all celebrate together after scoring a goal.
The Bruins are 39-23-8 this season and tied for third in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Leafs last night. Boston is 5-2-3 in their last ten games, 13-14-7 on the road and 10-8-3 in divisional matchups.
It's a crazy time in the Eastern Conference and the Bruins are right in the thick of things. They sit in the first wild card spot right now even though they are tied for third with the Canadiens, who win the tiebreaker. All it takes is one loss right now to set you back.
This is the first of some tough matchups coming their way. Their next few games are against the Wild, Blue Jackets and Stars all in a row. After is the Panthers and then the Lightning, who are both tough matchups.
In net, we're expected to Joonas Korpisalo. He is 11-9-4 this season with a 3.04 GAA and a .891 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Bruins vs. Sabres picks.

I think we see a chess match here. Neither team can afford a loss, and neither is going to want to be the one to make the move, so I like the under. For a lean, give me the Sabres at home to widen their first-place lead.
Boston is definitely going to need to try and clamp down the Sabres shots. They allowed the third most per game and Buffalo is good for almost 30 per game. I could see this getting 2-3 goals past Korpisalo.
Considering, we have decent goaltending to add to the under hitting. Luukkonen has a solid GAA this season and could easily shut down the Bruins if they can keep the shot count down for him.
Give me Josh Doan to get 3 or more shots on goal. He's hitting at a great rate, hitting in seven of his last ten games. Doan is coming off a miss, and I like that for a guy going into an important game.
