We head into a possible elimination game in Buffalo. The Sabres have a 3-1 series lead vs. the Boston Bruins and have the chance to close the series out at home tonight. Buffalo crushed in Game 4, winning by a final score of 6-1.
It was never a contest. The Sabres came our screaming in the first period with four goals. They had goals from Peyton Krebs, Josh Doan, Zach Benson, and Bowen Byram all in the first. It was a scoreless second period and then Buffalo scored two more in the third for good measure.
Buffalo controlled the shooting of this game but lost the faceoffs and hits to Boston by about double. It didn't seem to matter on Sunday because goaltending was the issue. Sabres starter Alex Lyon has been fantastic, and the Bruins Jeremy Swayman is struggling.
Goalie Alex Lyon is expected to start his third straight games for the Sabres. He's allowed one goal in each of his last two starts that resulted in wins. Lyon will look to continue his top notch play to advance his team to the next round.

Boston will do everything they can to win with season on the line

Bruins forward David Pastrnak celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal.
It's do or die time for Boston. They've been here before and know what they have to do, it's just a matter of if Buffalo allows them to. The Sabres are riding their high of being back in the playoffs and this would be huge for them to move on.
The Bruins played a solid game in Game 4 but couldn't crack Alex Lyon. Lyon saved 23 of the 24 shots he faced and shut Boston down. He has won the last two games for Buffalo and only allowed one goal in each game.
In net, we're expected to see Swayman again for Boston. He needs a big bounce back after allowing six goals last game but have a 2.71 GAA during the season. Getting him some defense to get that shot count down would be a solid start.
Let's check out the odds and get into the Bruins vs. Sabres Game 5 picks.

Give me the total to go over in this one. The Sabres should have what it takes on home ice to get this done. They've also shown that they know how to get past Swayman and could be the X factor.
I do think Boston comes back this game with offense after a dud. Their backs are against the wall and season is on the line, so they're going to leave it all out there. We're getting good value on something that should clear in the beginning of the third period.
Three of the four games in this series have gone over. This one has huge implications, and the Sabres could close it out. Give me Swayman to get over his saves line. It should be around 27 saves, and I think Buffalo peppers him this game.
