We have a battle in the Central Division tonight, but we'll see if it's really a battle. The Chicago Blackhawks are in town to take on the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. These two teams last met at the beginning of January and the Blackhawks walked about with a 4-3 win.
Chicago is 23-29-10 this season and are last in the Central Division. They come into this game on a two-game losing streak after a loss to Vancouver on Friday. The Blackhawks are 2-6-2 in their last ten games, 11-14-5 on the road and 8-6-3 in divisional matches.
We're going to find out if the last match was a fluke or not. Dallas is the second-best team in the league, so for them to drop that game in January was big. They trailed 4-1 in the third period at one point and couldn't complete the comeback.
On offense and defense, Chicago ranks in the bottom of the league in regard to goals scored and allowed as well as shots on goal per game. Their power play is not very good, but their penalty kill is the best in the league.
In net, we're expected to see Arvid Soderblom. He is 6-10-2 this season with a 3.58 GAA and a .876 save percentage. Starter Spencer Knight is out due to an illness.

Dallas looks to keep cooking after overtime loss breaks win streak

Stars forward Mikko Rantanen goes to make a move on the Blackhawks defenseman in front of him.
The Stars are 38-14-10 this year and second in the Central Division. They come into this game off a shootout loss to the Avalanche on Friday. Dallas is 9-0-1 in their last ten games, 18-7-4 at home and 13-4-2 in division games.
Dallas went on an absolute heater, winning ten straight games before dropping their last one that they almost won. It's tough beating the best team in the lead that you're chasing in the standings, but they came pretty damn close. Dallas is in the driver's seat right now and playing hard to hold their spot in the division.
They play a great game on both sides of the puck. They rank in the top of the league for goals scored per game, power play conversion and shooting percentage. On defense, they rank in the top for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game.
Goalie Jake Oettinger is expected to get the start. He is 25-10-5 this season with a 2.68 GAA and a .897 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Blackhawks vs. Stars picks.

This is kind of a nice revenge spot for the Stars. This is also a great get right spot for the Stars after that overtime loss. With the way they played, they looked like a team who was about to win eleven in a row.
I think the Stars come out hot and control this entire game. They are looking to make a deep playoff run this year with the way they look. This team has all the pieces to make that run, it's just a matter of who gets in their way. The Blackhawks will not be something in their way (lol).
With no Mikko Rantanen, I like Jason Robertson to get 3 or more shots on goal. He's hit in his last three games and is definitely a guy looked upon to help fill the void. Sprinkle his anytime goal as well – he hasn't scored in two games.
