It's an exciting time of year as the season gets close to the end. The Chicago Blackhawks will take on the New York Islanders, who are fighting for a playoff spot. These two teams last met in December, and the Islanders won 3-2 in a shootout.
New York is 40-26-5 this season and fourth in the Metro Division. They come into this game holding the second wild card spot after a big win last night over Columbus. The Islanders are one point out of second seed in the division and the first wild card spot.
They dropped two big games previous to their last game. It shot them down in the standings and puts them in a tight spot with no room for error. New York's schedule isn't very easy coming up with games against the Stars, Penguins and Sabres.
The Islanders have been good at home this year with a 19-11-2 record. Coming in off that win over the Blue Jackets should give them momentum to carry into this game. Their offense should get a chance to breakout tonight vs. Chicago.
Goalie Ilya Sorokin is expected to get the start. He is 26-17-2 this season with a 2.51 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Sorokin is coming off his seventh shutout this season.

Chicago is tanking well, on brink of playoff elimination

Blackhawks forwards Frank Nazar, Ryan Donato and Connor Bedard celebrate after scoring a goal.
The Blackhawks are 26-31-13 this year and last in the Central Division. Although they play in an extremely tough division, they are the second worst team in the league. Chicago should be looking at a good chance of landing a top five pick in the upcoming draft.
They come into this game on a two-game losing streak after a loss to the Predators in overtime on Sunday. The Blackhawks are 3-3-4 in their last ten games and 13-15-6 on the road this season.
On offense and defense, they rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored and allowed per game. The Hawks also rank in the bottom for offense shots on goal and allowed per game. Their brightest spot in they have the best penalty kill in the league.
In net, we're expected to see Spencer Knight. He is 18-19-10 this season with a 2.64 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Blackhawks vs. Islanders picks.

This is a must win game for the Islanders and especially being home. I like the over in this game because I could see them allowing goals and making this game close when it shouldn't be. I do lean for them to win, but I like the over more for -125.
New York is obviously the better team here, but they have a history of playing around in serious times. As a lifelong fan of this team, you can never count your chickens until the hatch. We win games we should lose and lose games we should win.
I like Bo Horvat here at home tonight. Give me his 3 or more shots on goal paired with recording 1 point. He has is such a huge piece of this offense and is coming off a solid game. This is a game for them to get another win under their belt and get their offense going.
