Prediction

Tonight is a battle of two teams with very different current form and going different directions.

The Avalanche have gotten over their stretch of bad performances and injuries that plagued the early portion of their season and look poised to make a surge up the table in the Central and possibly defend their Stanley Cup title.

The Avs are currently 4th in the Central and are 6-3-1 over their past 10 games. They will be looking to bag another big win and 2 points on the road tonight against the lowly Habs.

The Canadiens are in total tank mode, looking to build towards next season. They are currently last place in the Atlantic Division and have lost 6 in a row.

I don’t have high hopes for them to win tonight either, in what should be an Avs…avalanche. Forgive the pun.

I love the Avalanche in this matchup to take care of business in Montreal tonight.

However, there is no value on the moneyline (-250) or the in regulation Moneyline (-160) either.

I also don’t love the Avs to cover the puckline, as the Avs have only covered the 1.5 puck line against the Habs 1 time in their last 6 matchups.

The Habs have also covered the +1.5 spread in 4 of their last 5 games.

The Avs can be dangerous and capable of scoring in bunches but everything points to the Habs covering here and hanging around.

Let’s cap this off between the pipes for the Canadiens and Jake Allen.

Allen has 31+ saves in 4 of his last 7 games and had 34 agains the Avs earlier this season when they played in December.

The Avalanche rank 6th in Shots per game at a little over 33 per game on net so Nathan MacKinnon and company will be peppering the net once again tonight.

As long as Allen doesn’t get pulled early, he should make 31+ saves no problem.

Given that I think this game stays close, I like Allen to play a big factor in that, making lots of big time saves and cashing this prop.
