Jaguars vs Saints Prediction — NFL Week 7
The Jaguars' chances of victory hinge on QB Trevor Lawrence's health. The third-year gunslinger suffered a sprained knee in the win over the Colts, resulting in a questionable tag for Thursday night.
Having said that, the fact that Lawrence has practiced throughout the week (albeit, in a limited fashion) points to him likely suiting up. His health is paramount to the Jaguars' success considering that they're averaging 23.7 PPG this season (No. 10).
The Saints' offense, on the other hand, hasn't been performing all that well. An 18.2 PPG clip has them sitting in the bottom half of the NFL. They've also been held to 17 or fewer points in three of the last four games, resulting in a loss each time.
The area that New Orleans has truly struggled in is the passing game. While the Saints did rack up 341 passing yards last week, they were held to 175 or fewer in each of the three previous games, meaning it'll be interesting to see if the latest showing was an anomaly.
Saints QB Derek Carr's play has been underwhelming thus far and that's unlikely to change. New Orleans' offensive line is quite banged up, highlighted by tackles James Hurst, Ryan Ramczyk, and Landon Young all being ruled out for tonight's game.
Jacksonville also averages the most takeaways in the league, so expect the visitors to put pressure on New Orleans' offense all night long.
Speaking of the Jaguars, they've been driving on the road dating back to the 2022 campaign. They've covered the spread in each of their three road games this season, improving their ATS record to 6-0 in their last six away outings.
Meanwhile, the Saints are an underwhelming 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday night contests, as well as 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall — including an 0-2 ATS record at Caesars Superdome in 2023.
In what's, more or less, a pick 'em game, I'm taking the Jaguars to win on the road. On top of being great away from home this season, Jacksonville has been impressive with a plus-12.7 average scoring margin over the last three games — third-best in the NFL during that span.
The Saints are stuck in a rut and as long as their offense struggles, winning won't be easy. The home crowd should help New Orleans stay in this game, but Jacksonville's more consistent play on both sides of the ball will lead to victory.

Taking a look at the Jaguars vs. Saints player props, I have my eyes on New Orleans WR Rashid Shaheed recording over 38.5 receiving yards.
The sophomore wideout has been productive this year, averaging 49.7 receiving yards per game. He's finished with the Over on this prop in three of six outings so far, which includes an 85-yard performance in Week 6.
Shaheed now gets a juicy matchup in the form of the Jaguars, who are allowing the second-most yards through the air and sixth-most yards to wideouts in 2023. In other news, finishing with 39-plus yards won't be a problem for the ex-Weber State Wildcat.
