Both teams are coming off lopsided victories in Week 1. The 49ers hardly broke a sweat in their 30-7 road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers while the Rams stomped the rival Seattle Seahawks, 30-13, at Lumen Field.

This 49ers vs. Rams showdown is a tale of teams that had opposite success against the division in 2022.

After all, the 49ers won all six games against the NFC West with a plus-18.8 average scoring margin. On the flip side, the Rams only won one divisional matchup.

Speaking of rivalries, San Francisco has had LA's number for quite some time. The 49ers have won eight of their last nine matchups against the Rams dating back to the 2019 season. That includes a 4-1 record in Los Angeles during that stretch.

What's even worse for the Rams is that their last eight losses to the 49ers came by an average of 10.4 points. It also doesn't help that Sean McVay's team has failed to cover the spread in each of its last five home games against San Francisco.

While the Rams looked solid against the Seahawks last week, I don't see the offense having the same success against the 49ers.

San Francisco boasted the best scoring defense in the league last year and LA learned that the hard way, only averaging 11.5 PPG in the two games between these rivals. After the 49ers held the Steelers to 239 total yards and seven points last week, I don't expect the unit to fall off any time soon.

I also struggle to see how the Rams are going to stop a well-balanced 49ers attack that racked up 203 yards through the air and 188 on the ground in Week 1.

Yes, Los Angeles had a strong defensive effort last week, but I can't ignore the fact that the Niners are averaging 27.6 PPG in their last eight games against the Rams.

Throw in the fact that LA will be without star WR Cooper Kupp for the foreseeable future and I don't like the home team's chances of keeping pace with the 49ers this Sunday.

Again, the 49ers are the better team, highlighted by their superior depth at just about every position. They've proven that they own the Rams more often than not and shouldn't have an issue getting the job done at SoFie Stadium once again.

49ers vs Rams Week 2 Best Bets

49ers -7 (-115 on Bovada)

While winning by a touchdown on the road is tough, I have faith that the 49ers can cover the 7-point spread. They've covered the spread in each of their last five trips to SoFi Stadium, which included a 17-point win in their most recent trip last December.

The Rams won't be able to get much done against the 49ers' elite defense the longer the game goes on, leading to the visitors winning by more than a touchdown.

Christian McCaffrey to Score 2+ TDs (+210 on Bovada)

A 49ers vs. Rams player prop I like is Christian McCaffrey scoring 2+ touchdowns (+210) on Sunday. After all, the veteran rusher has a ton of momentum following his 152-yard Week 1 performance.

He's also tallied four TDs in three career meetings against the Rams, which includes a pair of multi-touchdown performances. Considering how LA surrendered 13 TDs to running backs last season, don't be surprised if CMC finds paydirt two or more times.
