It is hard to believe we are already here, with the College Football Playoff semifinals officially upon us. These two teams are no strangers, as Indiana went into Eugene back in October and handled business with a 30 to 20 win that was not nearly as close as the final score suggests. The Hoosiers controlled that game from start to finish.
Indiana enters riding serious momentum after an eye opening win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl. Oregon advanced after a dominant shutout, but questions still linger about how strong this Ducks team truly is. It is a sad week, exciting, beyond exciting, but still a very sad week knowing we only have three more games left in the college football season. The semifinal round of the College Football Playoffs is here. No. 10 Miami and No. 6 Ole Miss go head to head in the Fiesta Bowl Thursday evening, and Friday night No. 5 Oregon takes on the No. 1 seed Indiana. Revenge Game?
We get yet another rematch in the College Football Playoffs. Earlier, Alabama got their revenge on Oklahoma, and Ole Miss in the last round got theirs against Georgia. Now, the Ducks look to be the 3rd team to get revenge from a loss in the regular season. Back in October, Indiana went into Eugene and took down Oregon 30 to 20. The Hoosiers in that matchup were a 6.5 point favorite, and they completely owned the hometown Ducks. Indiana outgained Oregon in every statistical category.
With this being a neutral site game and Indiana favored by just a field goal and the hook, I want no part of the points. I still want to back Indiana, so the best option is taking them to win it all, which is currently priced at +135 on Lucky Rebel.
After watching the Hoosiers completely embarrass the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Rose Bowl, it is tough to doubt them moving forward. It is odd that the spread is lower on a neutral site field than it was when this matchup was played in Eugene, which is why I want to take Indiana to win this round and then whoever comes out of the Fiesta Bowl Thursday evening. The Hoosiers will be favored the rest of the way, so getting them at this price feels like a steal.
Lack of Trust
I am still finding it hard to trust the Ducks, even off their impressive 23 to 0 win over Texas Tech in the previous round. However, I would argue the Red Raiders looked like a team that only played Utah and BYU twice this season. Oh.
How good is Oregon, really? Their biggest wins on the year came against Iowa on the road and against USC. With my lack of trust in the Ducks, it is tough for me to even think about taking either team on the points. That is why I believe if you share the same thoughts about Indiana, you take them to win it all right now. You are getting an unbelievable price, and at this point last year, with Ohio State being the clear top team in the country, they were -120 to win it all. When is Indiana going to get their respect?
