Big East basketball never disappoints, and tonight's matchup between Seton Hall and Marquette is no exception. The Golden Eagles are battling to turn a rocky first half of the season around, while the Pirates have quietly reinvented themselves after a tough 2024-25 campaign. Both teams are coming off losses, making this a must-win game that could set the tone for the rest of the year. Between Marquette's struggles and Seton Hall's newfound efficiency, there is plenty to watch on both ends of the floor. Get ready for a game full of intensity and high stakes.

Seton Hall vs. Marquette Bet
Nothing beats Big East basketball, and tonight we get an intriguing matchup between Seton Hall and Marquette in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles have faced a ton of adversity to open the first half of the season and are now looking to turn things around in the second half. Meanwhile, the Pirates have completely reshaped their program after a brutal 2024-25 season. With both teams coming off a loss in their previous game, who ends the year with a win?
When It Rains It Pours
With the news of Zaide Lowery being dismissed from Marquette this past week, I would typically lean into that bad news and look to fade the Golden Eagles. However, Lowery has not truly been involved for over a month. In December, he averaged 17.25 minutes per game. In November, that number sat at 26.7. On top of that, this Marquette team has been abysmal for most of the season. They own a 5-8 record, and those five wins came against teams ranked outside the top 165. If this ends up being a get right spot for the Golden Eagles, I can live with losing this bet. Give me Seton Hall on the moneyline.
The Pirates have completely turned things around this season. They finally have an efficient offense, while still maintaining the same lockdown defense they showcased a year ago. On top of that, they have been dominant away from their home gym. Haslametrics gives Seton Hall an edge in Away/Home Court metrics, ranking the Pirates eighth while Marquette checks in at 38th.
Road Warriors
In five games away from home this season, Seton Hall defense has been nothing short of impressive. They rank sixth in adjusted defensive efficiency, 26th in turnover percentage, 12th in three-point defense, and tenth in defensive block percentage. Offensively, they have been shockingly better on the road, ranking 71st in adjusted offensive efficiency, 56th in eFG% offense, 65th in offensive block percentage, and 34th in two point percentage. A year ago, the Pirates were one of the worst inside scoring teams in the country. This represents a drastic improvement. Head coach Shaheen Holloway deserves a ton of credit for such a quick turnaround.
On the other side, Shaka Smart has not been too smart, *ba doom tiss*, as he continues to avoid the transfer portal and it shows. This season, the Golden Eagles are 0-6 against top 100 teams. Their offense ranks in the bottom 165 in eFG%, three-point percentage, two-point percentage, and free throw percentage. Defensively, they have been serviceable at 124th in adjusted efficiency, but they struggle mightily on the perimeter. They rank 275th in three-point defense and 257th in three-point rate.
Marquette has played the tougher schedule, but they have little to show for it. Seton Hall, on the other hand, owns a winning record against top 100 opponents, with victories over NC State, Kansas State, and Providence. Their two losses came by a combined ten points. The Pirates should take care of business tonight.
