Ohio State vs. Maryland Bet
For a Thursday slate, this one rocks. Tonight, the Ohio State Buckeyes head to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins in a Big Ten showdown. The hometown Terps are riding a three game losing streak. Will they have the juice to get out of bed and try again, or will they suffer a fourth straight loss to the Buckeyes? Ohio State is also coming off a loss in its previous game, falling 92 to 82 in Madison against the Badgers. Now coming in as a 7.5-point favorite, this feels like a good spot for the Buckeyes to get back on track.
Where are we going in this one? I have thoughts…
Nothing gets the night rolling like sweating out a fourth year senior guard's points, which is exactly what we are doing this evening in College Park. Tonight, we are all over Bruce Thornton over 18.5 points.
Old Man Bruce
The longtime Ohio State guard has been the heartbeat of this team all season, averaging 19.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. On the road, the senior is posting nearly 18 points per game while shooting 47.3% from the floor and 36.7% from beyond the arc. This is a great spot for him to explode, especially considering he has averaged just 16.2 points per game over his last five outings.
As a whole, the Buckeyes offense has remained efficient over its last 10 games. They are attacking the rim, ranking 38th in two-point percentage, and they crash the boards at a high rate, ranking inside the top 45. If this group finds a rhythm on the road, they should be in good shape with Thornton leading the way.
Maryland has struggled defensively over its last 10 games, ranking in the bottom 100 in eFG% defense, turnover rate, free throw rate, two-point percentage allowed, and block percentage. Ohio State should be able to get to the paint with ease. Despite losing eight of those ten games, Maryland has faced a gauntlet, playing at Illinois, at Michigan State, and most recently hosting Purdue. The question is simple. Is this team going to show up tonight? They are a mess.
Give me the fourth year guard to go off tonight. OVER.
