Iowa vs. Maryland Bet
Coming off their biggest win since taking down Marquette on November 15, the Maryland Terrapins look to keep the momentum rolling tonight as they host the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa enters on a six game winning streak that dates back to January 17, when they beat Indiana after a tough loss to Purdue. With the Purdue rematch set for Saturday, the question is simple. Will the Hawkeyes stay locked in, or will Maryland keep stacking wins?
I am avoiding the spread in this spot. I love Maryland team total under 64.5. If that is not your style, I also endorse the full game under. This sets up as both a look ahead and a potential letdown spot, so points should be at a premium.
Through seven true road games, Iowa is the fourth slowest team in the country, and their defense ranks top 55. They limit three-point attempts, ranking 62nd, and sit 31st in three-point percentage defense. Overall, they allow about 64 points per game, and 66 on the road. That slight increase does not concern me. The pace will be slow, and Iowa already held Maryland to 64 in their previous meeting.
This will be Maryland's 14th game against a top 50 opponent. Through the previous 13, they have averaged 65.6 points per game. Everything points to Maryland landing around this number, and I still lean under. They rank 305th in effective field goal percentage and 328th in two-point percentage. They also sit 347th in offensive block percentage. While they are 59th in three-point rate, they rank 215th in three-point percentage.
Iowa will take away the perimeter and force Maryland into inefficient looks. Even with a potential look ahead, the Hawkeyes should control tempo and keep the Terrapins under 64.5.
Best Bet: Maryland Team Total Under 64.5 (-115) on Lucky Rebel
